Not likely, they're okay, to Nintendo, nope.

Out of the three consoles, the Xbox lineup is the least interesting to me. But then I do most of my fps'ing on the PC and play few driving games. It's the most logical choice for you.

Microsoft will continue to support it, but it won't have the success of the PS2. Sony has already won this round. Still the Xbox is doing fairly well in the US and will definitely be supported by Microsoft. They have very deep pockets and they are in the gaming business for the long haul.

So yes the Xbox is a great console, but so are the PS2 and GameCube. Xbox is the best for FPS though and has a solid racing library. You will enjoy it.

Are you planning on getting a Target card, or are you just talking about the free controller?

Just so you know, JSRF and Sega GT come on the same disc. And you're not likely to get a whole lot for that controller.

Try JSRF, it's a good game and you might like it.

ok, went to local target, no more left, called another taget, no more left. called a third target, they put one on 24 hou reserve. they also told me the deal only runs for 1 week --- dont know if that is true though.

Question, comparing Internet Order vs B&M Order

1. B&M $190.80 w/ Target Card and 6% tax

2. Internet $186.75 w/ Target Card and $6.76 shipping ($4.99 + $.59/# @ 3#'s)

Does the internet deal give me the free controller? I think i will call their 800# to find out.

I know its splitting hairs, but that $4 will buy me 50 bumble gum balls!

and i just read:
October 20 - October 31

Shop now, save later.
Spend $100 at target.com and/or fields.com before October 31, and we’ll give you $10 off your next purchase.
Simply place your order before October 31, and we’ll take care of the rest. You’ll receive your $10 discount via e-mail within four weeks (plenty of time to do any last minute holiday shopping).

By Christmas 2003. It seems like chip speeds are doubling every year. 5 Ghz by Christmas 2003 seems quite possible to me.

Moore's Law says that processor speed will double every 18 months, so you're not too far off.

Then why not just make it christmas of 2020? If you can run it with all the features maxxed at 2 gigs what the hell is the point?

First and foremost, as I understand it, the game wasn't playable. There was an engine demo.

Second, the features weren't maxxed. Carmack said the game was set to medium detail settings.

Third, things get added to a game in progress, which is why the system requirements ratchet up as a game lingers in development. When the next card comes out, I'm sure Carmack and company will add support for at least some of the new doodads.

And fourth, faster computers make for better performance and resolution. I guarantee you that if you want to keep all your details maxxed at 1280 X 1024 resolution in multiplay, and never dip below 60 FPS, you'll need the newest latest greatest when Doom 3 comes out.
