Last week, Famitsu gave it 35/40. This week, Famitsu gave it a 38/40.
At that rate, it will get a 41/40 next week.
Seriously through, does anyone have an actual magazine scan to back it up?

The 35/40 was found out to be fake. The site that reported it last week, www.gamesarefun.com ran a retraction, saying that it was false and the review would be in this weeks famitsu.
I found the new score in a thread on one of the gamers.com board, and there were links to 3 or 4 sites that had the story, but no magazine scans.
I'd say it's real though, as the 35/40 false review was only posted on that one site, as far as I could find last week.

No idea what SA got, but I think Mario 64 got a 40/40, but that was 6 years ago.
Anyway, the 38/40 makes Mario Sunshine the second highest rated GCN game in famitsu. Resident Evil got a 39/40.

Here's the article from www.gamesarefun.com. Still no scans, but I doubt they'd run it again without verifying after reporting the false review last week. Below this article is the article (and a link) to the site they list as the source for the news.
"Mario Sunshine reviewed in Famitsu
Japanese publication, Famitsu, reviewed Super Mario Sunshine in this week's edition. There's some good news, and there's some bad news.
"We'll start with the bad news first. We reported a week ago that Mario Sunshine was reviewed in last week's edition of Famitsu and that it got a 35/40. Unfortunately, people are becoming more and more untrustworthy as the days tick by, so it turned out to be a false report. Thanks.
On to the good news; Super Mario Sunshine received a near perfect score in Famitsu, with a total of 38/40, or 10, 10, 9, and 9. The game earned a platinum award, and puts it as one of the highest scoring GameCube games, behind Biohazard (Resident Evil).
Super Mario Sunshine is due out in Japan on July 19th, and in America on August 26th. We're going to have massive coverage of this one, so keep checking for that. In the meantime, dream of all the Miyamoto goodness...

Yes, this is the most exciting news we've had in four days. Don't blame us.
Famitsu, Japanese uber-magazine, has awarded Super Mario Sunshine a near perfect 38/40, making it the joint highest score that a GameCube game has received, along with Capcom's Resident Evil. We should really add some padding to this news story to make it longer, but we're tired, and are going to make some soup for our lunch.
Tune in around August for more exciting Famitsu ratings!"
If that doesn't convince you guys, you'll just have to wait until a bigger site reports it, or find someone that can read japanese.
Anyway, the score is expected as every Mario game in the main series has gotten great reviews. They are considered to be the cream of the crop of the platformer genre, and there's no reason to think this time will be any different. If you loved Mario 64, you'll probably like this game even more as it's basically a refined version of that game with new moves and settings. If you didn't like Mario 64, don't bother with this one.

Does it really matter if it got a 35/40 as opposed to a 38/40? Do videogame geeks really get their panties in a bunch over 3 points? I guess so.
But either way, this doesn't effect my decision to buy Mario Sunshine. No matter what, I'm getting it, and so is the rest of the videogame population. Hope it brings me back to the Mario 64 days...

I found the score for Sonic Adventure, but I am not sure if its right, the website said 39/40, is this correct?
Also found the score for Mario 64 which was a 40/40.
These #'s correct?

Not sure about sonic adventure, and I'd be shocked if it scored that high as it didn't do that well in most reviews and Famitsu is usually the toughest there is.
As I said above, I'm pretty sure Mario 64 got a 40/40. After all many reviews called it the best game ever.

Actually my bad, I was wrong.. Sonic Adventure got a 38/40 (two 9's and two 10's)... So I guess it got the exact same score as Mario Sunshine.
