AxisPad won't work with Spiderman - Thoughts???

AxisPad won't work with Spiderman - Thoughts???
I've been trying to get my Interact AxisPad to work with Spiderman: The Movie. I've tried everything and can't get it to work.
I have three USB devices atttached to my PC - A MS Sidewinder Precision Pro, a MS Sidewinder Strategic Commander, and my AxisPad. Only the Precision Pro and the AxisPad show in Control Panel->Gaming Controls. Running Win98SE.
Now according to Activision's web site, my AxisPad should have controller ID #1, so I first did that. Spiderman only worked with the Precision Pro. So I disabled the Precision Pro from my Device Manager. Now only the AxisPad shows in Control Panel->Gaming Controls. I can use buttons 3 and 4 to skip past the opening movies, but when I get into the game menus, the gamepad doesn't work at all. Even when Interact AxisPad is selected in the game for the controller option.
I can't figure it out. None of the other games I use the AxisPad with (Tony Hawk, SW Starfighter) have a problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?
