Good PC Gamepads (for fighting games)

What gamepads do you guys own that are ideal for fighting games? I'm more concerned with the directional pad -- the on eI have (Gravis Interact Pad) sucks becuase the directional pad doesn't recognize all 8 directions when I play fighting games like Streets Fighters and Mortal Kombat. (emulated, or course)

Give me some brand names so I know what to look for. thanks

Dunno if the new ones are better, but the d-pad on the older MS Sidewider model I tried was really really bad.

I use a Playstation controller, with a USB adapter. The quality of PC controlers is second rate at best. The game console controllers are meant to survive and are the most functional, and with rumble pack.
