Very few have made it from the small to the big screen

Bruce Willis
Tom Selleck (for a while)
Michael J Fox (but let's be honest, aside from the back to the future movies most were duds)

but out of the current stars on tv, which ones would you like to see become movie stars

The cast from Law and Order, but only if it was a Law and Order movie.

Actually there are quite a few, don't forget those 2 little supporting actors named Tom Hanks & Jim Carrey. Also Robin Williams,Eddie Muprhy, Bill Murray, Martin Lawrence, Sandra Bullock, Adam Sandler, & Leonardo De Caprio, Mike Myers, & plenty more.

TO answer your question he's not on T.V. anymore but I wish Jack Black would do more movies, I think he's a thousand times more funny than Carrey, Sandler, Lawrence who's movies all end up making millions no matter what they star in.

He was great in The American President, although it was a supporting role, not a leading role.

I thought Matthew Perry did well in Fools Rush In and in The Whole Nine Yards. But the rest of the Friends cast should stick with TV.

Who I'd really like to see is Jessalyn Gilsig (Lauren from Boston Public):

I totally agree and would like to add George Clooney, Gregg Kinnear and Chris Rock to the above list. All 3 came from very popular TV shows.

Talk Soup was popular????!!!!

Anyway, Janel Maloney all the way. Take her in a romantic comedy over Julia Roberts anyday.

For a cable network show, I would say yes. It's been on the air for a long time. Not saying its a GREAT show, but I am sure alot of people have atleast heard of it.

Don't forget Will Smith and Clint Eastwood!

I like to see Craig T. Nelson do more movies also! He's great in THE SKULLS!

I actually liked Life with Mikey plus don't forget that Michael J. Fox also did the voice of Stuart Little (which was a huge hit). From the last twenty years, the only people who I think have made a successful jump from TV (excluding SNL people) to movies are Bruce Willis, Tim Allen, George Clooney, Fox, and Will Smith (certainly not a good actor, but he's been able to make a career out of being in movies and updating old songs).

I second this motion. Hey, do you remember a couple of years ago, they made a Law & Order movie on NBC, it was made for tv and had Chris Noth returning for one more case from the Brooklyn PD. It was good, except it had too much personal stuff going on with the characters. That's what makes L&O so good, that they don't delve in too much about the characters, they stick to the cases.
