Genius way to rob a bank. And that was a rather long "rubbing the lamp" scene with the genie.

What a waste of Scott (Kids in the Hall) Thompson.
They should've used him in the sex scene instead.
This show is really meandering to me - which is partly why I gave up on the book.
Also, there doesn't seem to be any sort of "rules" to this world, and everything seems really arbitrary.

Well that sex scene was certainly something.

I'm fairly certain I've guessed all the Gods correctly so far. This episode cemented Shadow Moon's identity for me. The Amazon Prime Starz app gives the names of several characters (including one of the guys in prison with him) that basically gives away who he is. So avoid that if don't want spoilers.

It seemed a bit odd to me to do a backstory episode (E4), but I loved it. Favorite actor so far is Chris Obi as Anubis.

That was easily the best episode of the show thus far. I'm disappointed that Laura doesn't seem to have too much time left. She's better realized than any other character on the show. Plus I could do with a lot more of her Zombie beat downs. Oh and Emily Browning is hot AF.

I thought the episode was a'ight, but in the grand scheme of things will play better when binge watching, but for a weekly show, did nothing to help move the whole story along or get folks to realize what the hell is going on with the main story.
It's expected since they're stretching this out for at least 2 seasons. Also, did nothing to make me dislike Laura any less.

I too thought it was the best episode so far. Really fleshed out how we got the point where Shadow finds out his wife died right before he gets out and how his outlook changes once he finds out how she died. Now understand the full context of his ah-ha! moment. And of course what the hell happened during the lynching scene.

When I saw the "graphic nudity" warning I thought for a second they were actually going to show what she was doing in the car. Good episode.

After watching the Twin Peaks return, this American Gods episode seemed like normal family TV fare.

My brother came over while I was watching Twin Peaks episode one and then came over again last night while I was watching the new American Gods. He saw Laura carrying her arm and all he could do was shake his head and say "you watch some fucked up shit."

He should have come in during that whole scene with the genie in the previous episode.

The scene where she was shitting out the embalming fluid in front of her friend made me chuckle.
And Emily Browning is pretty damn hot. And short. (best combination, IMO)

I liked the purging of the fluid scenes as well. Most shows would never go there. The fly paper way to show time going by was pretty cool as well.
But I am left wondering how they will deal with her full time going forward. I can see the logistics of her actually being dead, not even brought back to "life", becoming something that gets ignored pretty quickly so that the overall story can be told.

Yup. If you don't mind knowing who is in the cast before you see them, there are a lot more easily recognizable actors yet to appear. IMDB lists most of them.

Does Gillian Anderson keep getting hotter the older she gets?
Cool episode. Could you imagine if they had done Hannibal on Starz?

Agreed. Now that they can episodes can build upon each other, they are hitting each one out of the park. The scene with the new gods at the police station was gold.
You mean that Bowie scene?
Yes, yes she does.
