That breakup was too real. A girl broke up with me saying verbatim what she said to Phillip.
Season has still been good, but yea, it would be nice if something dramatic and exciting would happen.

Even though this my favorite show on tv and I'm still enjoying the season, nothing dramatic has happened as we are 8 episodes in. I really thought that once they announced next season would be the final season, things would really ramp up for the final 2 seasons. I guess Phillip getting dumped by the dorky logistics women in the most dramatic moment of the season so far!

Phillip's inability to accept being dumped by the dorky logistics woman, even though he probably doesn't need to continue the relationship, may not be the highlight of the season, but it's pure comedy to me watching him deal with the ego blow.

"Not everyone is as beautiful as you Elizabeth!" What a great line and says a lot about their ego's and holding a fake relationship.

I disagree that "nothing happened". Granted, they're small scale moments, but collectively, they resulted in a pretty solid and eventful episode.
Paige breaks up with Matthew.
Paige reads Marx, and there are hints that she may very well be on board with becoming a part of this spying gig. (Made extra-obvious by Gabriel's warning to Phillip to not let Paige have anything to do with the biz.)
Both Phillip and Elizabeth grossly misread their marks, with Elizabeth's seemingly having a girlfriend, and Phillip's hilarious rejecting him. (The moment in the phone booth, when Elizabeth discovers this, is fantastic due to Rhys's subtle acting.)
Gabriel says farewell.
They steal a plant. (Not riveting! But arguably the most important job they've had in the entire series.)
And the Stan and Aderholt scenes are always a joy to watch.

Most of what you mentioned was from last week episode. But I agree with your general idea.
I actually like how the creators of the show are handling things. By this season most shows become repetitive, a joke of themselves, if they don't have an end date. Even if they have an end date they may lose some steam.
With The Americans it could be that way, we could have episodes where they are almost caught, they are in danger, and then survive, are successful, that of course needs to happen.
Or episodes where we have the "monster" of the week. That's good for some shows, but not The Americans.
So yeah, repeating myself from last week, it's a slow burn, but it's really great.

I don't know if I missed it before when Elizabeth was in their house, but I loved the wallpaper trim in the russian teacher's house. I remember an aunt/uncle had a similar pattern with a bunch of different alcohol bottles. And an Italian family in my neighborhood growing up had one with wine bottles and pasta.
Is it just me, or was Philip's disguise when following the teacher look just like Ben.
At least it looks like we're going to get more Claudia.
