I was checking Comedy Central On Demand the other day and came across a Standup Special from Kristen Schaal from 2013/Live at the Fillmore. About halfway through she says a joke that just tanks and she pretty much has a breakdown on the stage and leaves. She then comes back, but the rest of the Standup is a total trainwreck as she is just flubbing every joke.

I'm not sure what people were saying 4 years ago, but it had to be a setup (Andy Kauffman made a career out of this). Now she has never done another special since and says that this may end her career in standup, but I still think the joke was on the audience.

Anyone remember this from 4 years ago?

I never saw that and wouldn't have even if I knew about it.
She's not funny to me.

BTW I wouldn't be surprised if that was part of the bit,
also she looks like Kaufman, wouldn't be surprised if she was his daughter.

The ironic thing about the special was the first half hour (before she supposedly had a meltdown), wasn't funny at all. I actually think the 2nd half (post meltdown) was funnier because it was so awkward, and so bad, it was like a car crash in that you couldn't stop watching it.

Yes, it was a brilliant Andy Kaufmanesque performance art piece, though a lot of people were confused at the time. I loved it, my wife (not a fan of Kaufman style humor) hated it.

I enjoyed it. The whole thing was so obviously planned out. Right on cue the audience start to leave just like when Kaufman was reading a book on stage and refusing to do his act. The girl was a plant clearly. There was never a real horse it was just set up for the wacky ending bit with everyone leaving. Then, the pre-recorded piece at the end referring back to the horse bit. All that stuff with her supposedly messing up was written material. I think even the audience at the end were actors. You'd have to find someone who was at the taping to know if people left in disgust or not.
