Watched the first 2 episodes and think it's pretty damm good
Action is great, way way better than SIX
Not really feeling the Taken connection but that's ok, it's 30 years on, hell it will be 10 years before he meets Lenore i would imagine

Not rated very highly on imdb, especially for a TV show
Is this going to get cancelled ?
Gee old school action shows really struggle in today's market v the superhero/sci fi ones. Human Target, the Player never got a chance. Training day even before Paxton's death was in trouble.
And shows like Strike back and Banshee should have been worldwide mega hits instead of cult classics

I'm really digging this series. Surprisingly so. The only real negative I can think of is how it doesn't seem like it ties into the movies at all. Also Brian not having an Irish accent is kind of weird.

There is a thought that male-led action shows don't do as well in the ratings with today's Millennials. I'm not sure that is the case but I've seen it suggested before. Which is why we keep getting more and more action concepts on TV with young female leads being the action star.

Clive Standen, Bryan in the TV show, is also Irish playing an American.
It also doesn't really tie into the movies because this version of Bryan is supposed to be in his late 20's and early 30's. Well before the grizzled veteran that Neeson played.
I also noticed they made a change when the casting was originally announced. Michael Irby, who plays Scott, was originally cast as the young version of Bryan's buddy Sam from the movies. But they changed the character.

Gave up on this show after a few minutes of the April 10th episode. At the core of this show, it's just your average cop procedural (case of the week). Only thing that's different is the use of one "Taken" movie character (so far).
I already watch three other cop procedurals (Blindspot, Blacklist, Hawaii 5-0), so I didn't feel like adding another one to the list. And Blacklist and 5-0 aren't even that good haha
This show isn't bad at all. I just lost interest. I think the moment that did it for me was when the villain on this episode was a weapons dealer. Been there, seen that on a lot of tv shows.

Taken has been better than this season of The Blacklist. I know that is damning with faint praise but the show knows what it is and executes on that premise.

I didn't get the end of the last episode. I get that she faked her death, but how did Bryan know where to find her?

It's likely on the bubble and depends on NBC's schedule next year. The people that watch like it, but ratings haven't been gangbusters.

That's cool news.
I see in the story the showrunner is leaving. Hopefully they will make the 2nd season with more action like a 24.

Awesome news on renewal. Terrible news that they try to tweak the show to be Blacklist or Blindspot. Let it be its own show.

I actually quit watching because I thought it was inevitably canceled. Taken is a solid show but a change in showrunner doesn't augur future greatness. NBC already has too many Blacklist clones.

just finished the last episode and really enjoyed the first season
Has real potential
action is cool. Just need to tweak the characters and make the plots a bit more intense

Greg Plageman, the former EP and co-showrunner of Person of Interest, was hired as the new showrunner.
That's actually a really good hire. He and Jonathan Nolan were great overseeing that show.

Re: Taken (NBC) -- based on the film -- Season 1 Thread -- 2/27/17
Just got back into town on Wednesday and was catching up on several shows that I was behind on.
Finished season 1 today off Hulu. I had about 3 episodes to finish.
Overall, I'd give it a B or B-. Some good action, but ultimately most of the stories were kind of forgettable. The season did end on a cliffhanger of sorts with Bryan being shot after killing Mejia and then being held captive somewhere in Mexico. I was disappointed with how things ended with Mejia. I think he ended up being a pretty weak and forgettable villain. This was the guy who murdered his sister and he just ended up being a standard cookie cutter Mexican villain.
I also didn't care for the actress who played Bryan's love interest. Standen really didn't have any chemistry with her, so that angle didn't really work for me. I hope they scrap her and maybe try introducing Lenore.
I'm in for season 2 in the Fall. Hopefully since the new showrunner worked on an awesome show like Person of Interest, he can bring in more action-oriented plots and maybe tie in this more to the movies.
