Starz released today the premiere date and key art for the fourth and final season of the Emmy®-winning Original series BLACK SAILS, returning Sunday, January 29th, 2017 at 9 pm ET/PT. The 10-episode fourth season of the stand-out high seas drama brings fans to the heroic conclusion of the Treasure Island prequel, and finds our pirates at war in the West Indies. The shores of New Providence Island have never been bloodier, but the closer civilization comes to defeat, the more desperately, and destructively, it will fight back.
Hundreds of British soldiers lie dead in a forest… the Royal Navy sails back to England in retreat… the West Indies are now a war zone, and the shores of New Providence Island have never been bloodier. With the help of Eleanor Guthrie, Woodes Rogers transforms Nassau into a fortress without walls, as Captain Flint amasses a fleet of unprecedented strength, hoping to strike the final blow against civilization and reshape the world forever. Meanwhile, from within the island… an insurgency builds, fueled by the legend of its exiled leader, whose name keeps grown men awake at night… the one they call “Long John Silver.”
In the Season 4 premiere,
The invasion of Nassau meets with catastrophe. Teach and Rackham seek revenge for the death of Charles Vane. Eleanor adjusts to her new role.

In the wake of Charles Town, the world lives in fear of Captain Flint. But when his campaign of terror crosses over into madness, it falls to John Silver to locate the man within the monster. Meanwhile, with Eleanor Guthrie gone, Jack Rackham and Captain Charles Vane struggle to secure Nassau for the ages. All will be tested when a new threat arrives. It knows them. It understands them. And in the blink of an eye, it will turn them against each other.

Watched the S3 finale again last night. I'm looking forward to this more than any other series this "season".

Watched the season premiere. Black Sails at its best. Hopefully the rest of the season is as good.

Given how things have progressed I can't help but wonder if they are just gonna keep this circular crap until the big bad Spanish shows up and then everybody will have no choice but to band together.
Also interesting that it was Max who fucked over the pirates and not Featherstone.
Big when Silver decided to call upon Max for aid/ransom. It was hard to say which is dumber, "Long" John sending word to Max for help, or Max thinking she can take on Silver and Isreal Hand with 4 goons.

Max, you done fucked up. I hope she doesn't end up with a noose around her neck. She's way too hot to die.
After Billy just opened fire on Flint's men I don't see how it's possible they'll ever be on the same side again, but I guess we'll see.

Flint was right, so Billy will probably come around. In fact, the way Flint's described the unified attack could be exactly how we see it work out. Had to look up Israel Hands. Didn't remember ever reading about him, but like so many others, based on a real guy from the era.

I kept expecting him to somehow survive that... but nothing ever happened... wow.
Easily my favorite show on TV right now.

Surprised they killed off Blackbeard this early.
Sure we have an episode of bickering between Flint, Silver, and Billy coming up.

Rackham surrendering made no sense. He did it to save Teach's life knowing full well that Teach, along with the rest of the pirates, would be put to death. What did he gain other than treating the viewer to a nice, graphic keel-hauling?

The story of this series has rarely (if ever) made any sense. I just enjoy the visuals.

Well they sure deviated from the real story of Blackbeard. And Billy and Co. showing up was a nice coincidence. But still loving this show even though we will not have Teach around anymore. That whole scene made the killings on TWD seem tame.
I think at some level I figured Rackham thought everybody could find a way to survive, or thought Rogers wasn't a sadistic SOB. They all had no shot if he started firing the cannons again. Firing would have got rid of Rogers, and his men, but accomplished very little in the long run (they don't know what was going on back on shore).

Could Blackbeard's crew have surrendered without an order? They signed on for Teach as Captain not Rackham. Like they saw him about to die and none of them was willing to risk that.
If it was Jack's order. I'm sure he'll explain his reasoning for it in detail to someone before too long.

Or...
They could have stood back and shot the Governor's boat to pieces and set fire to it before remotely thinking about boarding it. Then pick up survivors from the water. The only reason they would board a ship would be to capture the ship and/or steal the cargo, neither of which was a concern. That is what I mean when I say that the writing/storytelling on the show often makes no sense. But the capture and killing of Teach was compelling even though the events that lead to it were entirely silly.
