The most fun storyline is Elliott running Fillory, the rest is getting awfully dark.

I bet Reynard's 40-year-old son shows up as a character. They wouldn't have had that woman mention her child if they had no intention introducing him.

She sad her child was a "very influential man". It's probably someone we've already seen.

You would think that but they really haven't had any 40ish men of note even in passing. All of the professors are older that 40.

I'm thinking it might be someone proficient in magic that's hiding their true nature.

It could be the dean at Brakebills. I realize the racial differences but I guess he could pass for 40.

That would be an interesting twist.

This last episode was pretty good. Nice to see the whole team together working toward a common goal. Even Julia was less annoying than she normally is. Of late the happenings in Fillory have been very boring. Thankfully that aspect was kept to a minimum this past ep.

They've come up with a very interesting way to keep Alice around. I'm sure letting that creature take over your body for 30 minutes each day will work out fine...not.

Yeah those Niffins seem rather murdery. The only reason she hasn't killed Quintin is because she cant. No telling what she will do with control of his body.

Alice seems less and less like a Niffin and more and more like Alice.

She wants to change back- although as we know with most magic it always entails a big cost. I'm sure the series will deal with Penny trying to get out of his contract with the library at some point...

Anyone else notice how messed up the commercial breaks were? It almost seemed like the episode was edited without breaks in mind, forcing Syfy to just jam them in wherever.

Now that you mention it, the breaks were a little weird. TIVO now has a feature that automatically skips over commercials for popular shows with one button press, so it wasn't as noticeable for me.

That sloth should get his own show.

What? No comments on the latest episode? This is one of my favorite shows on TV right now.

So it seems Julia decided it was best to bring back Alice's shade than her own. To what end? Will Alice reunite with her shade and find a way to bring Julia's back afterward?

It seems like this season is coming down to an all out battle against Reynard.

Because it's Julia I suspect ulterior motives but if not it's her first selfless act maybe all series. Also I thought they did a good job with the dragon.

I wonder if the senator plot is going to end up a variation on the antichrist trope.

Re: The Magicians (SyFy) -- Season 2 Thread -- premieres 1/25/17

The dragon bit was fun. I have noticed a lot more pointless cursing this season. The tone just feels off when certain characters cuss for little reason.

I bet we get some weird shenanigans where Julia ends up with Alice's shade (which is a soul by any other name) in her. Quentin then ends up somehow falling in love with Julia/Alice. This was the one episode where I didn't think they wrote the shadeless Julia very consistently. Julia seemed to be acting like she still cared about things even before finding her shade in the underworld.

I'm not very enamored of the Senator's b-plot. It smacks of the Omen and it's pretty easy to see where that story-line is headed.

Julia committing a selfless act, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria.

Julia has no shade- so she has no compassion. It's hard to see her able to commit a selfless act even if she knew it was the right thing to do.

What we are getting at is even before she lost her shade Julia was always about Julia. Maybe the other 39 versions were angels but this version (that didn't get in to the school) has always put her interests above everyone else and left a destructive wake behind her. Maybe her shade talked her into taking Alice, maybe it refused to go with her but it looks like a selfless act.

I got that. But I thought the whole idea of not having a shade was the inability to be selfless? So while it might "look" selfless, I'm sure she had ulterior motives.

Great news because there are a lot of storylines from the books they haven't covered.
