Those comments were about right. Heroes started really strong, and the setup was about ordinary people suddenly gaining superpowers. That’s what drew viewers in. Then the show just blew everything up, and it was no longer about the characters and powers had been around for hundreds of years. The stories became so stupid.

That first season looks more and more like a fluke in retrospect. Kring's other shows have all been largely pedestrian network fare with paint-by-numbers plotting and characterization. He hit on the superhero zeitgeist right as people were getting excited again about superhero movies and was doing the only credible attempt at a comic book feel on television when Heroes first aired.
I will give Heroes credit for inspiring the CW to greenlight Arrow, which kickstarted the wave of DC programs on the air. Without that massive surge of interest in Heroes during season one, I doubt we would have gotten Arrow.

Everyone loved season 1 up until the finale, which most here thought was meh or disappointing.
Everyone here hated season 2, which was cut short due to the writer's strike.
Season 3 just flat out sucked.
No one cared about season 4.
Heroes Reborn, the reboot season from 2 years ago, most here hated as well. Worst of all (since most here dropped it and probably don't care anyways) it ended on a cliffhanger. So it was never intended to be some self contained event series.
It was a disappointing series, but in a way it helped launch better super hero shows afterwards.
Just curious why was Mrs. Danger looking up Heroes on Facebook in the 1st place when the show hasn't been relevant or talked about at all in the last few years?

Re: I never paid any attention to HerOes...
I recall reading at the time that the original plan was that each season would focus on a different group of heroes. My guess is that the popularity of the first season messed that up and, either on their own or at the urging of the network, the showrunners continued with the first season characters, even though they had already told their story. As a result, the stories were all over the place, there was little consistency to the characters, and the creators continued to ill-advisedly follow what they perceived to be the popular characters and aspects of the show, bleeding them until they were dry and the audience long since stopped caring.

I agree, the writers’ strike killed this show.
I was a fan initially, and then dumped it when it went on the season 3 winter break.
Now I hate the show and whenever someone mentions it, I get bitter! Haha

Did we ever find out what happened to that one girl who got trapped in that alternative timeline future?

Nah. The writer's strike just shone a bright light on what we already got a glimpse of in the season one finale. Kring & Co. had no idea what the hell they were doing.

I also didn't realize this was a few years old. I watch broadcast TV, and I've flipped past it recently, in syndication.

Heroes came out in a time when with Smallville, we were happy (well kinda) getting teasers of one demonstration of super powers every 5 episodes and when we wouldn't ever get full comic characters, just half assed versions of them.
That kind of slow burn just doesn't cut it today. Look at the Flash and the rest of the arrowverse and the Gifted, there is more super hero action in one episode today in these shows than a whole season of Heroes or smallville
With what we have today, Heroes is totally and utterly irrelevant
