I am pretty sure the character is older in the comics and plays a mentor role to other heroes.

Well that makes more sense then. He certainly doesn't look like the ass kicking type. He looks like the, watching football in his underwear and flip flops while eating a cheese-steak type.

His daughters will end up being the main focus. The current take on Black Lightning is that he's practically retired from being a superhero and is more focused on being a father and businessman.

Gotta have the body armor. No way he's got a secret identity with that getup though, right?

It vaguely looks like the light-up version of Palmer's Atom suit on Legends. The goggles don't look right to me, though Berlanti's shows have shown no hesitation modifying costumes once they are on air.

I understand the success of Marvel's Iron Man made tech armor popular with mainstream audiences. I just wish they would stick closer to comic book elements in the costume design.

It looks like a lot of effort to hide that Dad bod.

Not really a fan. Don't like the goggles and something about it just seems off but I can't put my finger on it.

That costume is awful. It's some fat dude in a skin tight costume.

He looks like an updated Sinbad as Black Lightning from SNL.

Arrow is getting up there in age and contract renewals with stars are always dicey. This is leverage to hold against LOT and Arrow.

This is one series I hope they stick to shorter seasons.

Agreed. The shorter season seems to keep the main plot going at a good pace with less filler. I thing all Marvel/DC shows could use 10 episode seasons myself. When you are watching multiple shows and you hit that lul at the same time on each show it really wears on you.

The CW's Black Lightning not part of Arrowverse, crossover unlikely

I'll watch the pilot, but if this is just another opportunity for Berlanti to whack us upside the head with politics like he's currently doing with Supergirl I'm dropping it.

The same way Supergirl isn't part of the Arrowverse?

Definitely watching this but the clear goggles really ruin the suit for me.

That costume looks so god damn baddass lit up like that. I didn't realize who was playing him. i like that guy. I was already in but now I'm really in for this show.

The good news is that Berlanti and crew have shown a willingness to improve costumes after audience feedback. Both Green Arrow and Flash have gone through several costumes.

Meh. I think he looks cool, but it seems like it is going to be another Supergirl melodramatic show with some occasional super-heroing.

So is no Arrowverse a plus or minus for this one?
