The Last Ship (TNT) - Season 3 Thread - premieres 6/19/16

Season 3 officially premieres June 19, however...

Oddly, it appears that episode 1 aired a few nights ago, labeled as a "First Look." My DVR recorded it and I started playing it today thinking it was going to be promo stuff--previews, cast interviews, behind-the-scenes looks. Nope, it's apparently the full first episode. I'm watching it now.

There was also a short, 3 minute preview scene that my DVR recorded separately, a bit earlier than the "First Look."

I will post some comments in the next post, and I'll spoiler them since the official premiere is still several days away.

re: The Last Ship (TNT) - Season 3 Thread - premieres 6/19/16

Okay, spoilers coming for what is apparently an early airing of episode 1 of season 3, including a BIG one about one of the characters:

Spoiler:
First off, it appears that Doctor Scott (Rhona Mitra) is actually dead?! I figured that scene where she is shot at the end of Season 2 was just for a cliffhanger effect and she would be alive--maybe in rough shape--but alive. But no, this season picks up some time later and indicates that she is dead. I guess they could be--in story--pretending she's dead for her protection and keeping her in hiding for now, and maybe she'll show up in the future? It doesn't seem like that, though. I haven't finished the episode yet, so I'll update if anything more is revealed about her.

On a brighter note--Bridget Regan is on the show now! I really like her, so if Rhona Mitra is really gone, then this is a good trade-off.

The general conflict for this season looks to be power grabs in Asia, with governments using the cure as leverage. However, the virus is supposedly mutating so that Dr. Scott's cure may not be effective against the new strains. Which brings me back to wondering if she's really dead...

Okay, and then at the end of the episode
Spoiler:
Aw, damn, they killed the hacker girl. I wonder what it was she saw that made her want to go back. And still no Dr. Scott, but it will not surprise me if she turns up alive. No Tex in this episode either.

I think on the official premiere date (June 12), they are going to air episodes 1 and 2 back-to-back.

First episode was awesome. Saw it when it aired last week. Enjoyed it despite the cast missing couple of my favorites from last season (at least for now).

The people that complained when this series spent so much time on land are not going to be happy. The rest will likely enjoy this as much as the first two seasons.

This won't air tonight due to the Orlando mass shooting:

http://deadline.com/2016/06/the-last...ng-1201771334/

The two-hour Season 3 premiere of TNT’s drama The Last Ship will not air tonight as scheduled out of respect to the victims of the massacre in an Orlando nightclub where 50 people lost their lives last night. I hear the premiere contains a scene involving a shooting at a Vietnamese nightclub.

Well that sucks, though a replay of the final episode last year helps since I can't remember how last season ended.

They don't have time to reshoot that episode, so what are they going to do, edit it out for more commercials or just not show it? What's the new schedule anyway?

We have the mass causality tragedy-to-tv show similarity ratio down to a science, sadly enough. In the US that's roughly 1 week. It will likely be uncut.

Postponing the premiere is ridiculous. TNT is just bowing down to terrorism. Yes, the shooting is a tragedy and I'm not going to get mad over a tv show being postponed. Obviously, a tv show is not as important.

It's just disappointing that TNT would let terrorism shape their actions.

I downloaded it, I don't use torrents FYI.

I just think its stupid. The people the tragedy affected aren't worried about whats on tv at the moment I'm sure. I watched both episodes its pretty good. I forgot the doc died wasn't sure I wanted to watch it without her but I'm still in.

Well, technically, we aren't supposed to know the doc's fate, -the episode left it up in the air, -so really that should be "spoilered".

I guess the question will be how the schedule will work out. There were supposed to be two episodes this week, and next week's episode would lead into the new season of "Murder In The First". That would make them two episodes behind.

1st 2 episodes are on demand on DirecTV.

Edit: nm, they're labeled as the new ones but are also from last season.

re: The Last Ship (TNT) - Season 3 Thread - premieres 6/19/16

TNT has rescheduled the two-hour Season 3 premiere of The Last Ship for this Sunday, June 19, at 9/8c.

Additionally, the network announced that the Season 3 premiere of Murder in the First will now air Sunday, June 26 at 10/9c.

The Last Ship‘s season opener was originally slated to air this past Sunday, but because it features a gunman opening fire at a nightclub, it was pulled in the wake of the shooting massacre at an Orlando nightclub earlier that day.
