Glen Morgan wrote the original Home, so there's a good chance.

I can't wait until people who have given up kids for adoption, adopted kids and parents complain about the "treating him like trash" line. People like to be offended by everything and it could be another Black Widow sterilization line from Age of Ultron all over.

Really enjoyed this one.

I was a bit iffy upon the show's return, but it feels like classic X-Files again.

Re: The X-Files (S10E04) -- "Home Again" -- 2/8/16

This was gobshit. Poorly plotted, poorly paced, poorly directed. Some terrible acting from secondary characters. Trying to draw a parallel between Trashman's vengeful creation and William was half-assed and sloppily done. Band-Aid Nose Man sure as fuck will not join the ranks of memorable X-Files "monsters" like Flukeman, Tooms or even the Fiji Mermaid. The William fakeout on the cell phone screen was cheap. Zero suspense overall. Some dumb lines meant to be amusing. Anderson seems to have completely forgotten how to play Dana Scully. Someone get her some cough drops and a six-pack of Red Bull before shooting if they plan on continuing this. The flashback to One Breath just made me yearn for the glory years. Hell, even the glimpse of the Finale did.

This was one I don't see I'll ever need to revisit again.

Re: The X-Files (S10E04) -- "Home Again" -- 2/8/16

Sort of interesting to see them do a take on Banksy, and some cool stunt cadting with Tim Armstrong in the role. I think Band-Aid Nose would have been a better monster if Scully's mother hadn'tbeaten up so much screentime. It came off as forced, and really held the story down. We're only getting six episodes, and this seemed like a distraction.

They're really pounding William into these episodes aren't they? Probably safe to assume he'll be turning up in the finale in two weeks.

Re: The X-Files (S10E04) -- "Home Again" -- 2/8/16

The monster of the week wasn't the strongest, but the emotional work of Mulder and Scully was just so strong I don't care. It was a great episode and left me with a major case of the feels. I hate to see Scully suffer like that. I hope they work things out, but with only 2 eps left, there's no telling.

Gillian is a great actress. She was breaking my heart in this episode.

Re: The X-Files (S10E04) -- "Home Again" -- 2/8/16

That quick shot of a young Mulder at Scully's bed side was so jarring it took me a moment to realize that was actually David Duchovny.

Damn, he was good looking when he was young.

And I'm in the camp that prefers the younger more full-figured version of Gillian Anderson too.

I agree the Scully performance is a little all over the place this series but I blame that on the director who should be recognizing and correcting that. Same with her voice which sounds like she's had throat surgery or been hitting a meth pipe. Its inconsistent and should have been corrected.

Gillian Anderson has proven her acting chops in MANY other shows. I think her character is just harder to try to recreate. Mulder was always so deadpan that Duchovny basically just has to recite the lines and its a match.

Yeah, that whole trashman monster just seemed like it needed another 5 minutes of screen time to get some rounder edges on it. As it wsa, the story just seemed all over the place and really was fairly sloppy in how it was put together.

This was my reaction as well. I understand and appreciate that they're trying to integrate the larger plot threads into the "monster-of-the-week" episodes, but it's been to the detriment of telling a cohesive one-off story. While the production value on this one was miles beyond what we got last week, and the story seemed to develop in a much more organic manner, they still had to resort to just having someone take 5 minutes to explain what was going on rather than have Mulder and Scully actually figure anything out on their own.

The other thing that stood out to me is that they're really doubling down on the William stuff. I kind of assumed that they would shy away from that plot thread given the less than stellar reputation of season 9. I guess I was wrong.

Pretty darn good episode. Decent MOTW and some really nice emotional scenes with Scully and her mom, with Mulder and about William.

This wasn't a bad episode, but there was something off about it. Like it needed more time to develop or something.

I didn't like this episode. I'd only say the 2nd episode was worse.

Hope the last 2 episodes are a step up. As a whole I've been disappointed with this miniseries so far.

Re: The X-Files (S10E04) -- "Home Again" -- 2/8/16

I liked this episode overall, but it wasn't as good as episode 2 ("Founder's Mutation") and episode 3 ("The Were-Monster").

The final 2 episodes of the mini-season are both written by Chris Carter (who also wrote episode 1) and, despite being the creator, he's not one of the better writers on the show, so I expect the quality to drop off to end this run.

What was the X-Files thing that Fox ran opposite the Super Bowl during halftime?

It was the opening monologue/scene from the finale with Scully narrating. Similar to Mulder's scene in the premiere.

Re: The X-Files (S10E04) -- "Home Again" -- 2/8/16

Strange episode, but I was entertained. The MOTW didn't really have a lot of substance to it's plot, but I liked the plot involving Scully and coming to terms with the loss of William and eventually her Mom. Some of the special FX with him tearing apart the victims was kind of neat.

Funny how this was the 2nd episode filmed, but it really wouldn't have worked airing as the 2nd episode of the season, especially tonally coming off the premiere. Seemed suited airing as the 4th episode. Kind of a downer of an episode.

Re: The X-Files (S10E04) -- "Home Again" -- 2/8/16

Wasn't great, but better than episodes 1 and 2. The emotion of her mother's passing really hit me. As others have mentioned, the MotW was weak and the resolution rushed/spoon-fed to them.
