Upon leaving hell, Lucifer Morningstar retreats to Los Angeles for a more exciting life. When the murder of a friend connects him with LAPD detective Chloe Decker, Lucifer becomes intrigued with the idea of punishing criminals, sending the devil himself into a struggle between good and evil in the all-new "Pilot" series premiere episode of LUCIFER airing Monday, Jan. 25 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Looks like a shitty adaption of the source material, but it also looks like it could be pretty good as its own thing.

I liked the Pilot that was leaked a while back. I liked it the best of the leaks to be honest. Looking forward to this show as well.

This could be fun but Fox will hammer the property into what they desire. I wouldn't expect any passing nods to the comic, it's doubtful the staff bothered reading it.

Loved it!
Never read the source material and had no expectations. It's like Castle meets Constantine.
Told the wife we were going to watch a new show. She said okay. Then I said it was based on a comic and she rolled her eyes. She struck with Arrow for a few seasons, and keeps up with Flash but that's sometimes a chore. After the end of the intro segment she was onboard with this.

As an adaptation of the source material this was awful. As it's own thing it was fun enough to get me to come back next week.
I really wish we could have had a proper adaptation of the book, but oh well.

Thought it was entertaining. I have no background with the source material but from a few of the comments here that seems liike a good thing.
Not sure how it will hold up long term though.

I loved it. Thought Ellis was hilarious. Liked his snark and sarcasm.
I don't mind that this procedural. I think it could work well here. Definitely has Castle vibe to it. I like that Lucifer is just a dick who's bored.

Hey look another procedural about a weird insightful savant who helps the police solve crimes. From the previews I thought this show was going to something completely different than this. We've seen this format done a kajillion times.

I doubt that.. guy cold stares down what looks some sort of bad ass angel enforcer with nothing but a smirk. TV shows have to hold a bunch of stuff back for later eps. Look at how Smallville held back most of Clark's powers for at least 4 season. After all the guy IS the devil and he can't keep back hordes of demons with just his charm.

Saying that, this was a fantastic pilot episode and both leads are perfectly cast. There was serious polish to the dialogue, most of it was very witty. I liked him in Rush but Tom Ellis gave a very believable performance as a world-weary Lucifer. I completely buy him as the Devil looking to have a little fun in L.A.
It did grate on me that virtually no one but the kid scoffed when he'd introduce himself as Lucifer. Even in jaded L.A. most adults would know that is one of the Devil's names.
The only thing I worry about with a concept like this is that the angel/demon mythology has been heavily mined over and over again by television in the past fifteen years.

The lady cop has zero personality. Zero. The guy playing Lucifer however is nails.

There's no real point to checking out the comic book if you like this show. It's nothing like the comic book except in name only.
