If there is something that I absolutely loathe about DC's New 52 is the new Wally West, one which unfortunately has been somewhat adapted to the Flash tv show. Dan Didio truly hates Mark Waid to keep shitting on this character.

I'm not familiar with Wally West outside of Young Justice, but I don't see anything wrong with how this character has started out.

Second that. Patty is awesome and they need to keep as many normal humans around to keep the show grounded.

Wally West had a rich 50 year history in the DC Comics universe before being changed in the last year of so on the New 52 reboot. What you saw of Wally in Young Justice is more akin to his history pre-New 52. What we are seeing on the TV show is something completely different from the Young Justice character. It is rumored that the change was dictated by Dan Didio, who dislikes personally Mark Waid, the writer who made Wally popular in comic books and TV show. Wally was even the Flash on Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited.

I thought Patty was going to die in that opening scene.

A dying Jay Garrick definitely adds a new wrinkle. I don't remember that being mentioned or set-up before.

I like Patty. Berry and Iris makes little since at all even further down the line. They would have needed to deal with it differently. Patty was good.

Re: The Flash (S2E10) -- "Potential Energy" -- 1/19/16

If that was truly the end of Patty then that was a lousy way to send her off. They might have well just sent her back to her "home planet". It's too bad, b/c she was a fun character with a lot of enthusiasm. Not sure why telling her he was the Flash was a big deal; everybody else knows; plus, it made Patty look dumb that she couldn't figure it out.

Bringing on Jay Garrick at the beginning of the season seemed like a good idea, but I've found him to be a really lame character. Plus, his interactions on the shows have diminished the strongest friendship relationship (Barry/Caitlin) which has been all but ignored for a little while now.

Hate to see Patty go, but I know she will come back for the finale to be killed by Zoom. Bet on it.

Why does everyone on the CW have sex with their clothes on?

What a lame cop-out. They've been jerking us around all season about Patti, it finally looks like he'll tell her, and they just write her off like that?

Re: The Flash (S2E10) -- "Potential Energy" -- 1/19/16

Do we know for sure she will be gone? She said she decided to leave but it sounded like it was based on Barry not really committing. He may still tell her and she decides to stay.

Thawne at the end threw me though. Be weird if he was reverse flash from Earth 2. So far no one has matched up with their earth 1 counterpart. Not familiar with the Flash other than what I read after the show airs from fans that compare it to the comics.

Patty will come back when we least expect it. It would throw everyone for a loop if it was revealed she was Zoom.

My 10 year old daughter said that Patty doesn't deserve Barry because she's too stupid to figure out that he's The Flash.

Two sides to every story. For all we know she told Wally that Joe knew about him but wanted nothing to do with him or told him that she tried to contact Joe many times over the years but fell on deaf ears. He's also still a kid. Blaming daddy for never showing up is easy.

That's why I kinda like how they're playing it. It seems realistic to me even if Wally comes off as a dick.

That's exactly what I was talking about. The way Wally was written for this episode was such a cliche for broken home kids.

He's not a kid on the show. He's at least 18 years old. And the story about Wally's mom lying to him doesn't sound plausible since it was her that went to see Joe and Iris after so many years off their lives. She still alive and it's something Joe, Iris and Wally can verify. Wally was written as a dick just to create a non-existent story. Wally is simply a dick, unlike the way he was in the comic books.

I think they eventually want Barry to mentor Wally in some form. I've been waiting to see what Wally thinks about the Flash in Central City.

Is it just me or did anyone else get a strong Smallville Fast & the Furious vibe from this one?

It was her that went to Joe after 18 years. What did she tell Wally in the first 17.5 years? We are talking about a drug addict that went through a bitter separation that lost custody of her daughter. Seems more than plausible that she would be less than honest and paint Joe as the bad guy.

Yes from a writing standpoint, there's no need for him to be a dick. I'm just looking at it from a real world perspective where his behavior wouldn't be all that unusual given the circumstances.

I understand your point of view and it's pretty realistic. Still, it's shitty for this show.

Re: The Flash (S2E10) -- "Potential Energy" -- 1/19/16

Wally was a dick, but I was also a little put off by how Barry acted to Patty after disappearing at the party and then re-appearing without even a remotely decent explanation. Yeah he changed to stop Turtle, but still I didn't like how he came across afterwards. I don't blame Patty for being upset.

I really liked the Patty character. I'd like her to come back, but it may not be in the cards. Shantel Van Santen is now a free agent and can pursure Pilots for next season.

Well shit, that's a bummer. Hopefully the writers don't force Iris back into the picture.

DJariya is right about Patty. It may be tough to sign the actress for a full commitment.
