The Hollywood Reporter pointed out that not only is a third season of Agent Carter considered “highly unlikely,” but that passion for Marvel’s Most Wanted is cooling and it’s not “considered the lock it once was.” Agent Carter’s cancellation, if and when it officially comes, won’t be a huge surprise. The show struggled in the ratings quite a bit.
THR’s take on Marvel’s Most Wanted slightly more dire than what Variety has heard, which is that the show isn’t no longer practically guaranteed a series, but still has a decent shot.

It would suck if they both canceled Carter and then didn't pick this up. We need another Marvel show to fill the void, although the Netflix ones are doing a way better job of it.

They could cut SHIELD down to 16 episodes, and then give Carter eight episodes and MMW 8 episodes. Still gives them 32 hours and cuts down the padding on SHIELD and Carter.

Either the Pilot was awful or ABC has no confidence they could sustain 2 Marvel shows simultaneously.
Shield's ratings have dropped a lot this season and they were probably concerned a spinoff couldn't work.
I guess now they have to find a way to write Hunter and Bobbi back in for next season.

They could've atleast ordered 8 episodes to air during the AoS hiatus.
I'd be annoyed if I were these two. First the scrap the idea of the spinoff. Then they try again a year later. They write them off the show. And then they don't even pick up the spinoff.

Yeah Palicki and Blood will probably be pissed that it didn't get picked up. Being series leads would probably come with a nice salary bump.
However, with any Pilot that's shot in contention for the next season, there is always a chance it won't get picked up.

Their probably doubly pissed that they lost there main gig on Shield to go forward on this project. Though they will probably find a way to write them back onto the show.

ABC has bigger problems than worrying about slotting another Marvel show. Their entire schedule has seen the ratings fall and it's apparent Disney isn't happy.

I hope so too. Anything that keeps the focus off Daisy makes AoS better. Outside of her powers/parents storyline the writers make her overly important for plot reasons at the expense of the other characters. The perfect example was in a recent ep Lincoln getting the murder vest in case he's infected by Hive and Daisy getting the rescue mission after being so. That was really on the nose (intentionally or not).

the problem is networks are still trying to fill their usual lineups but now they have additional competition from streaming services like Netflix which don't have specified days/times
