Shades of Blue (NBC) -- S: Jennifer Lopez, Ray Liotta -- Series Thread
Harlee Santos (Jennifer Lopez) is a charismatic single mother and resourceful detective at the heart of a tight-knit crew of Brooklyn detectives, led by enigmatic Lieutenant Matt Wozniak (Emmy Award winner Ray Liotta, "Goodfellas," "Field of Dreams"), who often leads the team to step outside the limitations of the law in order to effectively protect their precinct and their own.
As a big illegal job looms on the horizon, the FBI catches Harlee in the act and pits her against her own unit. As a newly turned informant, she struggles to safeguard her on-the-job family and avoid arrest in order to stay with her daughter. Harlee engages in a perilous dance with her FBI handler, Special Agent Stahl (Warren Kole), who develops an unhealthy obsession with her. Meanwhile, Wozniak, acting as the unit's patriarch, begins an all-consuming hunt for the informant. Pressure mounts as the crew struggles to perform their brand of street justice under FBI watch.
The cast includes Drea de Matteo ("Sopranos," "Sons of Anarchy"), Dayo Okeniyi ("Terminator: Genisys," "Hunger Games"), Vincent Laresca ("The Aviator," "Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift"), Hampton Fluker ("Aquarius," "The Blind Side") and Sarah Jeffery ("Rogue," "Wayward Pines"). Santino Fontana ("Frozen," "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend") is a recurring guest star.

This is a serialized police thriller. Episodes 1 and 2 are directed by Barry Levinson. Has a pretty good cast and I like Ray Liotta as the antagonist. I know this may not appeal to some because it's a network show.

This has been receiving somewhat positive reviews. Have seen some parallels to The Shield, but admittedly not in the same league. Regardless, I plan on checking it out.

Ken Tucker, who used to be the TV critic at Entertainment Weekly, seemed to enjoy it.

I watched the first episode of the new Jennifer Lopez cop drama Shades of Blue and thought, “This is kind of crazy — how are they going to make this a weekly show?” And I immediately wanted to see a second episode. After I watched the second episode, I thought, “Wait — this is getting even more strange; how are they going to keep this thing going?” So I watched a third episode. (Thank you, NBC.) And then I have to admit, I watched a fourth. I wouldn’t exactly call Shades of Blue addictive, but it certainly does keep you wondering.

I watched it live and I liked it. Liotta and Lopez play well off each other. I'm not crazy about the young actress playing the daughter. The FBI agent is indeed creepy.

Seeing Jennifer Lopez as a cop reminded me of her Karen Sisco character in Out of Sight (which is one of my all-time favorite movies).

I had seen the previews and my expectations were low, but I'm getting tired of Elementary so I watched it "live" last night. I was surprised to find out Barry Levinson directed. I didn't visit the forum yesterday. I liked the show, but there's really nobody to root for. I'll watch it again.

I'll admit this pilot was pretty entertaining if you are into corrupt cop drama. My guess is that this will be the female-driven version of The Shield with Quantico's torrid pacing thrown in for good measure.
I'll give it a couple of episodes but Ray Liotta's acting hasn't done anything for me in over two decades.

Just caught this today
Thought it was quite compelling. Had a little similarity to The Shield, especially with all the leads essentially being anti-heroes.
I'm curious how they sustain this premise beyond the original 13 episodes, especially with Wozniak now knowing there is a mole on his crew. That last scene with Liotta and J-Lo with the hidden camera was pretty intense.

Decent second episode and the backstory of Harlee's past gave some good insight and I did feel a bit sorry for her.

I liked the 2nd episode.
Some tense scenes with J-Lo and Liotta. I'm guessing that Harlee burned herself to help ease the tension before the lie detector test? I liked how Wozniak caught on that she might be lying with her hand gesture that he remembered from the video.
Yeah the video with Harlee talking about her backstory gave some insight into her dark past.
at Tess attacking the bar chick banging her husband.
I'm really curious how they sustain this premise.

I was just going to post the exact same thing!
I know we're supposed to be rooting for J-Lo, but I am kind of hoping she ends up dead or in jail. She's not at all likable in this. They are trying to make her out as some sort of victim, but she's as much a criminal as anyone else. The show is pretty enjoyable so far.

I have to say JLo looks absolutely gorgeous in this show. I am even thinking of asking my hairstylist for the same haircut she's sporting.

Wow, that reveal about Wozniak/Liotta came out of left field.
I dig this show so far. It's about flawed people making bad choices and that applies to J-Lo's character. Love the intensity that Liotta brings to this.
I was however scratching my head at the really careless lies that Harlee was telling Wozniak. It made her look really dumb that she wouldn't think that Wozniak wouldn't check up on those.
I wonder if Harlee is purposely seducing that lawyer to probably try to help her cause in the future.

The gay reveal last week with Liotta's character was definitely a shocker.
