Looks well done. Too bad I won't ever see it since I won't spend a dime on this silly streaming service.

Was Lucius Malfoy in the trailer? Don't think I saw him.

Re: Star Trek: Discovery -- from EP Bryan Fuller -- Coming to CBS All-Access in 2017

It feels like all the footage was from the first episode so Jason Isaacs character might not have shown up yet.

And it's interesting that the lead was billed as the First Officer but here we see Captain Georgiou talking about her getting her own command.

I'm not totally onboard here. It really looks like too much of the Kelvin aesthetic. It can't be that hard to look at The Cage and make that look good.

Jury's still out, but at least it looks idea-oriented instead of action-oriented.

One question though: 10 years before Kirk and the bridge is bigger than a Galaxy class starship?! Come on!

The trailer didn't exactly wow me like it seems to have for most. It looks like it'll have great production value but something about it feels off to me. Not sure what exactly it is. I know we don't know much about her yet but I'm already not feeling the Captain character which is obviously a crucial role for any Trek series/film.

Re: Star Trek: Discovery -- from EP Bryan Fuller -- Coming to CBS All-Access in 2017

I am not a Trekkie, as I have seen a lot but not all of the original series eps, only a handful of next gen eps (the borg ones, and a few others including the series end), maybe 1 or 2 eps of DS9, all but one film (I believe I have still not seen Generations, and I do not think I have seen the very first film all the way through) including the latest trilogy, but I did watch Enterprise and Voyager, and I think I am going to buy in for the duration it takes to watch this series.

I suspect quite a few who are insisting they will not pay are going to bite the bullet and buy in. It looks great, and as long as I can throw it up on my 4K tv all is good.

I wasn't impressed. It looks to have great special effects and production values, but it seems far too much like the new movies that I don't really have any interest in, instead of the previous series which I would.

It's an optical illusion. People have commented on this since TNG started but apparently the sets for the two bridges are almost the same size, it's the layout that makes the Galaxy class bridge look bigger.

The trailer did not do much for me ... I'll watch the pilot and probably the entire show ...

I really liked the TNG/DS9/VOY Klingon look .. not sure why they changed them (or why they did in Into Darkness)

What I'm really, really, really, really hoping is that this will tie into a really old fan theory that goes back to when we first saw ridged Klingons in The Motion Picture after the non-ridged ones in TOS and TAS: that the Klingon Empire truly is an empire spanning multiple species that all go by the name of Klingon.

This was the theory for years until ENT did a story saying the Klingons lost their ridges due to a virus.

As for these, there is talk that they are "ancient Klingons", so that would be an easy way to explain a genetic difference.

I'm sure they'll explain it eventually, the same way Enterprise explained the difference between the TOS Klingons and the TNG version.

Yeah, as good as the show looks in the trailer as far as having a big budget feel I think the overall look is part of what's throwing me off. It doesn't feel like classic Trek to me. Now I understand that a modern show is going to look better than TOS as far as production values go but the overall aesthetic design just doesn't work for me given that it's another prequel. Still not liking the Captain either from what's been shown but I should probably give her more of a chance.

The real reason was obviously better makeup/more budget available later on ... I really do not think ENT really needed to explain anything. They had a good enough line in the DS9 Tribbles episode "We do not speak of it to outsiders" .. I was happy with that.

It is not a huge deal and I am not saying I'll not watch the show because of the different Klingons .. I just like they way they looked in the 90s shows/movies and wish they kept that look.

I was a little excited for this, I'm a Trek fan but not a Trekkie, but I will not spend a penny to watch.

Yeah, we're not doing that CBS thing. We'll find another way to watch it.

If no one is going to subscribe to the service, then who is going to pirate it?

Just saying.

Last report from February says that CBS All-Access has roughly close to 1.5M subscribers. Not a lot by any means.

I get it. Most Star Trek fans probably aren't regular viewers of CBS programs or watch/DVR their shows as they air on TV, so they have no need for the service.

Only reason why I keep it is being able to catch up on Survivor, The Amazing Race, Blue Bloods and Scorpion when my DVR gets backed up. Plus, I work in the media industry and write off this expense on my tax returns. I'll be watching in the Fall.

Nah. This show will be one of, if not the most pirated shows of all time. Maybe even more than GoT.
