Good episode. I love the Snarts. Quick thoughts:
pros
- Kinda funny seeing Wentworth Miller behind bars again.
- The scene with Joe and Iris was touching.
- Barry and new cop have great chemistry.
- Cisco & Lisa have some pretty solid chemistry as well.
- they sure didn't waste any time bringing back Wells.
- Interesting twist at the end with Stein & the preview clip.
cons:
- the episode needed more Jay (I'm not up on my Flash lore, but I already like the actor/character quite a bit).
- violence; the Flash is a pretty solid family show, did they really need to blow a guy's head clean off? Seemed a bit much to me.
Lastly, with the two earths, multiple Flash's, a new Wells and the whole multi-verse thing I was wondering if my 9 year old daughter would be able to follow. However being the logical thinker she is, she posited that Mamma West was from Earth 2. Her reasoning (before the Joe/Iris scene) was that since she was dead, this new 'Mamma West' must have been from Earth 2. Her theory didn't pan out, but I don't think she's having a problem following along.

Jesse Martin does such a great job as Joe, he was incredible in that scene. This was actually the first Captain Cold episode I really enjoyed and Lisa seemed like a real person for the first time.
Barry and Patty get along awfully well...

Money's on sinister Earth 2 Wells, unless it's evil Earth 2 Eobard Thawne pretending to be Earth 2 Wells. I believe the Earth 1 counter parts are still dead.
For a bunch of smart people they sure do dumb things. Does no one think that doorway might go both ways. They've had meta humans popping out of these things all over the city but they won't come out of the biggest wormhole that happens to be in their basement.
Also why doesn't Cold just freeze his dad in the beginning. In the end he did even hesitate to kill him so there's not devotion there.

Earth 1 Eobard/Wells was sucked into the vortex between Earth 1 and Earth 2, the same one that sucked Garrick's helmet to Earth 1. We have no evidence he is dead. He could still be on Earth 2, either in hiding or having murdered Earth 2's Wells and impersonating him, hence why I asked which Wells just arrived on Earth 1.

Barry has more chemistry with that cop in a few episodes than he and iris have had in the entire show.

Jesus, I wish you people would get over the Barry/Iris chemistry thing. Bringing up over and over and over and over....yawn. There's got to be something new to talk about.

Well, Patty has been fabricated as the anti-Iris type of love interest. She's peppy and shares all his geeky interests. I hope she doesn't find out he's the Flash anytime soon. Modern superhero shows love tossing the secret identity because then the central character doesn't have to dress up for every meeting with the supporting characters.

I don't know if I'd be as understanding if I were Iris. I'd be like, "Fuck you dad, you told me Mom died?!?! I never want to speak to you again!"

I was kind of surprised at her reaction too. Then the scene cut abruptly, and they didn't follow up on that story line for the rest of the episode.

I still like the Flash, but these three episodes have been a significant drop off from season 1.
I really hope Wells is not secretly evil again.

If the show was about Iris, I could understand exploring her feelings about her father lying to her all these years. But I am not watching to find out Iris's innermost feelings. His excuses to Iris did seem pretty lame, especially now that Iris has been an adult for several years.
You can tell the producers are still stumbling around a bit finding their groove now that Wells as caretaker is gone from the formula.
