Marvel's Damage Control gets ABC pilot

Wut? My dream's come true. Wasn't expecting this. I'll watch it.
The Marvel streak at ABC has got to end sometime...
Sometimes the most important super heroes are the ones behind the scene. Marvel Television is heading to the half-hour live-action comedy arena with Damage Control, a single-camera comedy project based on the Marvel Comics books, which has received a put pilot commitment from ABC.
Developed for TV by former Daily Show and Colbert Report executive producer Ben Karlin, Damage Control follows the overworked, underpaid, clean up crew of the Marvel Universe. Specializing in dealing with the aftermath of the unique fallout from superhero conflicts, they’re the ones who are in charge of returning lost ray guns to their rightful owners, help to reschedule a wedding venue after it has been vaporized in a superhero battle, or even track down a missing prize African parrot that’s been turned to stone or goo.

Damage Control is a lot of fun. Back when I was working on a theme park-related project for a Marvel entity (pre-Disney), I pushed for a 15 to 20 minute Damage Control stage show. It got several thumbs up from the executives. Thanks, Disney!
Better dig through the quarter bins now for back issues before the prices soar.

Hell yes! I've always loved that concept and thought it would make a great movie/series.

This might actually be the better version of what DC has coming out at NBC.

Those were my thoughts as well. My only fear is that Damage Control always worked better in the comics when one of Marvel's icons would make a cameo. I doubt we'll get to see the Hulk level a town or have Spider-Man help clean. The good thing is that we'll likely get far more superhero references on Damage Control than Agents of SHIELD.

Ah, I can't imagine that will ever end. Disney seems to want to control their properties a lot more then WB.

I'm game for this but I do worry how good it could ever be. If it was short one shots, Damage Control would thrive in that form.

The concept sounds fun but I almost think it'd work better as one shots or something like someone mentioned. Not sure if there's really enough to base an entire series off of unless it's just a mini series.

This would work great as a single season, six-episode series with Drew Pearce as a show runner.
I'm surprised ABC Studios only ordered a pilot and didn't automatically give it a full season without a pilot similar to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders.
And yes, ABC Studios is responsible for the Netflix shows as well.

But the format is different. Network and Netflix are two different playing fields. It doesn't matter if ABC still produces it.... the format allows so much more freedom in actually creating it. Whereas Network, for some reason, doesn't have that.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
You know what also got an 8-episode order without a pilot or a single script written?
Agent Carter
Marvel's first two shows on ABC have been pretty much given carte blanche. I understand why Lee killed the Mockingbird/Hunter spin-off in the concept stage, but I don't get why Damage Control needs a pilot if none of ABC's Marvel properties didn't need one.
