This season has had me laughing out loud pretty often, so I'm still in.
The duck stuff - especially Phil and Lilly - was cracking me up...

I never even considered that. But it would be hysterical.

I've enjoyed this season, and I'm generally easily entertained, but this episode was a mess. Don't think I laughed once.

Wasn't a fan either. Lead-in by The Goldbergs was flat too.

I like Julie Bowen, but she can't really do physical comedy. The slapstick stuff just doesn't work with her.

I didn't think this episode was very good either but I did get a kick out of Jay.

kid: you're old
Jay: have you seen my wife, big ears?

No new Halloween episode this week? I usually like the Modern Family themed episodes.

Usually one of the better episodes. That's too bad.

I saw MF on one of those lists of shows that should be cancelled. It's still pretty good compared to many on the air, but it has lost so much steam. One of it's points is the kids. How they were so cute but when they grow up, they lose that. I think Luke took the biggest hit when he sprouted up over one summer. It named Phil as the lone bright spot week to week and I'll agree with that. No matter how lame the story lines are, Phil always comes through with the good lines.

This will most likely run for atleast 2 more season... unfortunately. Ideally, they go into next year knowing it is their last.

Great episode... Phil and the VR equipment, lol!

"You are really judging me right now when you look like a hooker at comic-con?"
"Ms. Dunphy, do you ever tutor?"

... and Haley in the tub.

I like how the commercial promoted this Nov 19 episode as a Thanksgiving episode.

Yea right...

I liked the episode though.

Re: Modern Family (ABC) - Season 7 Thread - premieres 9/23/15

Well, it was post-Thanksgiving dinner, so technically it was. And really, how many more sitcom episodes do we need of a chaotic turkey dinner with crazy relatives? I thought it was inspiring that they began the episode AFTER dinner.

It was definitely the best ep of the season so far. All the plots converging at Phil's "sexy house". Although to be honest, I actually thought the "hooker at Comic-Con" line completely failed. It was pandering to Comic-Con goers who will salivate at any mention of the event. Totally out of place in a Modern Family episode.

But yeah, it was also the best Sarah Hyland has looked all season too. She really needs to grow that hair out.

She needs to bend over more. Her ass is much more attractive than her face

The Shining homage may have been the funniest thing this show has done in years (and I'm not a hater -- I still really like the show).

"We should have thrown you out in the warm!"

This episode was full of great lines that they just plowed through. I had to keep rewinding to catch them.

Ariel Winter has a nice set of pipes.

I laughed out loud at that.

Some great ones in this episode. Really liked Phil's "serious" talk too. Always nice to see them actually do some parenting.

I was distracted by a phone call but this episode seemed a cut above. I'm going to catch it again before deleting it from the DVR

Best episode in a while. Several genuine LOL moments. Andrea Martin doesn't seem to be aging at all.

Yep, I liked this episode a lot too. Possibly the best one this season, and probably because the whole cast was together for the most part, instead of having the show jump back and forth between stories.

Enjoyed "The Shining" homage.

I think Phil has always been a pretty good parent. Never losing his temper over trivial shit, but he does get serious when the situation calls for it. Haley getting arrested, and when she was dating a guy twice her age come to mind.

Haley and Andy being caught in the act was pretty funny

Mitchell: "The family has been mocking us relentlessly all year."
Cam: "...Nicknames like Screech's and Herb, Simon and God-awful, Nickleback..."

Oh I agree - which is why it continues to be nice when it pops up.

I also liked how well the "Alex is trying to be nice" thing absolutely came off like she's still being sarcastic. There really is no difference

Re: Modern Family (ABC) - Season 7 Thread - premieres 9/23/15

Playing catch up and watched the most recent three. Man, maybe it's because I haven't watched in awhile, but all three were fantastic with the usual caveat, Mitchell and Cam just suck the wind out of every episode. One episode it's stressing over Lily's birthday party, next it's stressing over being on the outs with Pepper and the gay community, and in the third it's stressing over Lily learning how to ride a bike. They can take a fucking hike, I'm so over this third of the show.

On the flipside, Jay & Gloria, the kids and Phil & Claire were all brilliant. Claire and her assistant in one. Phil and the attractive black woman and Claire and the yoga instructor in another. Phil having horrible day and closing with having a great moment with Jay was a highlight in one.
