Tim Robbins scenes in this week's episode were the most entertaining. So he has kidney stones and an Infected penis. Ouch.

I'm assuming that he and his wife have some kind of open relationship. Disappointed we didn't see more of that hot translator.

I didn't really find Talbot and Rafiq's scenes this week that funny. More buffoonish stuff.

Pleasantly surprised to see Jaime Alexander aka Lady Siff guest star. Honestly that drug dealing Pilot is probably the weakest subplot.

Re: The Brink (HBO) - S: Jack Black & Tim Robbins -- Season 1 Thread -- Premieres 6/2

Jerry Weintraub the producer just died.

He did "41" the George H Bush HBO documentary a couple of years ago.

This TMZ article is kind of sloppy.

Jerry Weintraub ... the producer behind the "Ocean's 11" remakes, Frank Sinatra, and Elvis Presley died today at the age of 77 ... TMZ has learned.

We're told Weintraub's been in failing health recently, and had been at his Palm Springs home with family -- but it's still unclear what caused his death.

Weintraub's been a giant in music and movies for decades -- producing, promoting, and managing for everyone from Sinatra to Led Zeppelin ... to Bob Dylan, Elvis and John Denver.

In addition to the 'Ocean's' movies, starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney -- Weintraub produced all the "Karate Kid" flicks and the Chevy Chase classic, "Vegas Vacation." He was also working on the new "Tarzan" movie, due out next year.

Jerry won 3 Emmy awards during his career, dating back to 1975. His most recent one was for producing "Behind the Candelabra" with Michael Douglas and Matt Damon.

Wow. Thanks for posting.

Jerry Weintraub is a legend. He's one of the producers and businessmen I've always looked up to.

RIP

Well, anyways, Brink is turning out to be a really good show. I was not aware of it, and just got HBO a few days before it premiered. It took a little effort to start watching it, as I had zero hype for it. But I'm hooked.

I wonder if next Sunday's episode will show an "In Memory of" title card for Weintraub. he is a credited Producer and his production company makes the show.

The shots of that guy's tiny penis were funny.

That was tiny? I assume it was a prosthetic.

The scenes with the fighter pilots are weak but the rest is good.

Yeah, that's how I feel. I could do without all the pilot stuff. Everything else is great.

Edit: took me 2 episodes to realize the president is Esai Morales. He's aged really well.

at Larson making those weird noises when talking to the Indian foreign minister. Robbins was good in this episode. I love his loyal assistant holding the pea bag. I think Larson is my favorite character here and all his shenanigans dealing with the White House.

As I said before, I don't like the pilots storyline. Kind of dumb to be honest. I think the show would work with only the Larson/White House and Talbot/Rafiq.

I hate the pilots subplot. It's not funny or interesting. At all.

This episode kind of fell flat for me. They've all been hit-or-miss, but I thought this one had more miss for the first time. Hope it picks back up.

I guess I'm in the minority but I don't mind the pilots. I can't stand Talbot, but that is mostly due to hating Jack Black.

I'm not a big fan of the pilots, but I thought the landmine scene was pretty funny.

Yes, the pilots are the weakest part but I'm sure they will tie in to the main story eventually.

I'm liking this, but it just seems like it really wants to be Dr. Strangelove.

Is the British couple based on a real thing? Or is it a total fabrication? I find it interesting that there may be rich people living in the middle of the Pakistani desert. Sort of like the plantation in Apocalypse Now. Just wondering if there's any truth to it.

Also, what biblical story do the 7 girls fit into?

I thought the rich British couple were cannibals.

There must be something wacky about them if that is where they choose to live.

I took it as him referring to the seven signs of the apocalypse.

I'm liking the show but not loving it. I'll keep watching though.

They're treasure hunters (and "thieves", as they pointed out). Unless something more develops. No idea.

I think the show will stay in real life. But it'd be fun to get a "biblical apocalypse" two-parter.

I could totally see Tim Robbins' liberal angst as he dug into neocons. That was the most bitter and cynical moment so far.

Between this becoming seemingly his only contribution and the horrible pilots storyline I think I've wasted enough time on this show.

Oh C'Mon, one of the Pilots being forced to grope and motor boat that freak couple's wife was kind of funny last week.

There's only 3 episodes left. If you've gone this far, at least finish the season.

I probably will. But I'll be reduced to watching it later in the week after I've caught up on other things. Staying up a little late to watch it last night and realizing after I'd have preferred the extra 20 minutes of sleep to watching the show was what made me wonder if this was still a wise use of my spare time.

Re: The Brink (HBO) - S: Jack Black & Tim Robbins -- Season 1 Thread -- Premieres 6/2

This show started out pretty well, but it has really gone down the toilet. This episode was downright terrible. So much blatant political proselytizing and it wasn't humorous at all. The President and his cabinet also went full retard and the whole thing just seemed really off compared to previous scenes in the situation room.

I never really like Asif Mandvi on The Daily Show and he's done a poor job with this as well.
