Mild surprise to dump Rue instead of Michelle especially after she won the initial challenge, but she's never been that great. Really none of the last few eliminations has been a big loss.

I was sorry to see Rue go, even though she was most deserving. There was just something about her "selective" accent that I loved. In any event, I really want flamboyant Arnold to go.

I wasn't real clear how they chose Rue over Michelle and the Dom. Michelle is out of her element with no real kitchen experience and Dom is an asshole.

I'd be fine with that.
They did say that Michelle made the best food component of the bottom four this week, so that might have saved her. I don't know about Dom being an asshole. He kind of came across as one during the Michelle fight, but the judges didn't see that, and they (especially Giada) find him charming. Giada was really working the teeth this week, but I guess she always does. That and the cleavage.

No question about it, and I'm surprised he's lasted this long. I think what's helped is that there have been a couple crowd presentations (not the one this week) that he's done adequately in. But he has no chance if he can't be on camera.

I like Dom, he reminds of the 8th grade me turning beet red whenever public speaking was required. They should give him a show where the producers try to make him as flustered as possible while he cooks.
Rue made the fatal error of actually having an interesting POV, one that the judges were genuinely geeked to learn about, and then she failed to deliver on both the story and the food.

Hmm, interesting, thanks. Comcast puts Top Chef's Last Chance Kitchen on demand, but apparently not this. I'll look for it.

That was pretty epic. Goes to show how the editing can make these people seem like some one they aren't as Amelia was getting the cute girl next door edit right up until she went full Michael Richards on their asses.

Lame.

Not surprisingly, Michelle was not in the most recent episode of Star Salvation. It sucked for the remaining competitors, though, as their chances of surviving were reduced.

... And the Jersey Shore reject is not only back, now he's in the top three.
I noticed this a little bit last year, but Giada's wet-in-the-panties bias has gotten even more ridiculous this season. Last year you could feel her shilling for the bald-cowboy-pizza dude, but her constant attempts to sell Dom and downplay the accomplishments of the other competitors is downright disgusting. From her blatant comments to her little faces, she has lost credibility and is bringing the show down.
I like Jay and Eddie, but I don't think this season's crop of potentials was a very strong crop to start with.

Re: Food Network Star -- Season 11 Thread -- Premieres June 7, 2015
I liked Dom personally, and he seems to make good food. He's a complete disaster in front of the camera, yes, and in no way deserves to win, but I'm glad to see him stay instead of Arnold.
I figured there was no way Jay loses the final, BUT it's a lot different now that they don't appear to be actually cooking in their pilot. Tough luck, Dom. I guess Food Network is finally being up-front that these guys aren't actually getting a cooking show but a hosting show, which then begs the question of why they need to cook at all during the competition.
Also, Deep-Fried America and All Italian All the Time sound like terrible shows.

Re: Food Network Star -- Season 11 Thread -- Premieres June 7, 2015
I don't watch many cooking shows. I used to watch a few but they quickly grew old. I watched RRay and GFieri the most but I haven't seen any is the past couple of years. Now I do watch Ramsey and Irvine but that's not exactly the same. I was watching Cutthroat but it's lost its charm as well. Maybe Chopped once a month if I'm really bored.
So with all that who on this crop would I watch. The short answer is probably no one for long. How many shows are there now for cooking Italian and would Dom's be enough different to draw me in. Or does he have the skill over the other cooks also doing Italian.
Eddie would be interesting for a couple of shows but is there really that much depth he can bring that would be of interest in me doing that food.
I do like cajun food so Jay would be interesting for a few shows as well.
I watch FNS for the competition not to see who does what on their actual show when they win.
