Re: Muppets "reboot" coming to ABC?
This is getting some pretty mediocre reviews. Sounds like a real miscalculation.

I don't want "adult" Muppets. I'll check out the first episode but unless it amazes me, forget it.

I'll check this out. I was a kid when the original Muppet Show was on, and I loved it.

Re: The Muppets (ABC) - Season 1 Thread - Premieres 9/22/15
I've been a fan of the Muppets ever since I was a kid...The Muppet Show, the Movies, and Muppet Babies. Was so happy they've been making a comeback with these recent movies and have really been looking forward to this show. I've always loved how we as a society seem to just accept that the Muppets are real; I can't think of any other fictional character where that acceptance has been so widespread.
Just finished the premiere and loved it, although maybe I'm biased from my lifelong love of the Muppets. I think it's a fresh take on the characters and while the mockumentary angle has been done to death, I think they used it an effectively tongue-in-cheek manner so as not to feel stale. It's also interesting to see some more adult themes with the Muppets, but it didn't feel overdone or cheap.
I thought it was very funny overall and it's great to see them making use of all the characters we've come to love over the years. Lots of great one-liners from the entire cast. It was nice to see Riki Lindhome (of Garfunkel and Oates) on the show too; hopefully she sticks around.

I liked the change. That had some pretty funny stuff that borderlined bawdy. Just wondering if they can maintain the pace the entire season.

If all you wanted to see was her, then I hope you stuck around for Fresh Off The Boat right afterwards (although that show had a really lackluster season premiere)

Would have be great as a on-off, but I don't think "Muppet Larry Sanders" is a sustainable gag.

I greatly enjoyed this first episode as someone that grew up on the Muppets. It had funny writing and remained true to the characters. While I agree with the sentiment this scenario could prove repetitive and limiting in the long run, I'd be very happy if the season stayed anywhere close to this quality.
I will note that Fozzie Bear's voice wavered with some inconsistency. It doesn't sound like the guy that was doing it a few years ago.

I grew up on the muppets. Loved the series. Shit, even used the muppets as gag characters to troll internet forums....
Thought that was pretty disappointing. The whole Office/larry Sanders gimmick just doesn't work for me.

I thought this one was just all right. It wasn't nearly as good as I hoped, but I'll give it a few more episodes. One thing that really bothered me was the voices. They just aren't what I remembered, and it bothered me. I kept thinking of how the original voices sounded. That probably isn't fair, but I just couldn't help it.

I really like this new take on the Muppets...there were some well-written jokes in the first episode, and I like the showbiz angle of the series.
