I'm curious to see how the writing for the host will be tonight considering that they have a completely blank canvas to work with. Hard to believe that someone with such a pedigree would turn out so bland

I'm usually pretty forgiving of SNL, but this episode is awful so far. Johnson has no personality or charisma. That taped bit with the woman was one of the worst things I've ever seen.

Just a lame, unfunny sketch featuring a Next Gen Klingon and a Spock handsign at the end. Very heartfelt.

It has been awhile since they had a new episode on Saturday night.

Dakota has thick bags under her eyes for somebody who is supposedly young.

Maybe Don Johnson should have hosted.

Never a truer statement made.

After weeks of looking back, remembering SNL's best moments and celebrating SNL's importance, we get an instantly forgettable non-episode.

The Birdman/Guiliani sketch was an ambitious creative idea that fell short because Birdman does not have the relevance that its admirers believe it has (evidence: the studio audience was silent) and they didn't go after Rudy hard enough on the "Mr. 9-11" thing.

Dakota Johnson was too flighty (nerves?) during the monologue and they did not get the punch from the reveal about her conception and her parents in the audience. They should have let Melanie and Don come up on stage.

What the fuck was that Cecily Strong character supposed to be? UGH!!

The rest of the show was up and down. Nothing to get excited about, and the bad parts were just stupid and/or boring.

I usually find at least a few funny skits in each episode, but wow, this was terrible.

Way too much Kyle Mooney for this episode to be anything but annoying.

Alabama Shakes was great, though. One of the better musical guests in a while.

The one line I did laugh at was Dakota Johnson's response, "Harder!" to being slapped.

I tuned in for the first time in a couple years and wow, SNL is all but unwatchable. I feel embarrassed for anyone involved.
