For those who have never heard of this show, it's being aired on the Pivot channel here in the States.

Here's the trailer:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/j4EkiDfEQSg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Directv has the channel but it's in SD, but it may be in HD via On Demand.

Verizon, Time Warner, Charter and U Verse also carry it. It's also being aired on Sky Atlantic in the UK.

Most of you probably already have too much to watch already, so probably unlikely this will have much interest here. Especially on a channel that most of you have never watched. It has a good cast and interesting premise. I may try this at some point, but unlikely right now.

Fortitude (Pivot) - 1st Season Thread - Thursdays starting 1/29/15

http://www.thefutoncritic.com/showat...tude/listings/
Fortitude is a place like nowhere else. Surrounded by the savage beauty of the frozen landscape, the small town in the Arctic Circle is one of the safest towns on earth. There has never been a violent crime here. Until now.

In this close-knit community, a murder touches everyone, and the unsettling horror of the crime threatens the future of the town itself.

In Fortitude, it’s not just the cold that kills.
DESCRIPTION:
(from Pivot's press release, December 2014) Pivot announced today that Fortitude, the network's first original scripted drama will premiere Thursday, January 29 at 10:00 pm ET with a special two-hour television event. The 12-part one-hour series, starring Stanley Tucci, Richard Dormer and Michael Gambon, airs Thursdays at 10:00 pm with encores every Friday at 10:00pm ET. The dark drama series set in the melting Arctic, featuring psychological and thriller elements, tells the story of the small idyllic town of Fortitude, whose peaceful existence is shattered after a brutal and shocking murder. Above-average temperatures lead to a record ice melt revealing secrets long since hidden beneath the frozen landscape. Sheriff Dan Anderssen (Richard Dormer) leads the investigation and is forced to work alongside DCI Morton (Stanley Tucci), a detective who has flown into town from the mainland to contribute his forensic expertise. As the search for the killer progresses, their list of suspects - and suspicions of each other- grows.

PRINCIPAL CAST INFORMATION:
· Christopher Eccleston
· Jessica Raine
· Johnny Harris
· Luke Treadaway
· Michael Gambon
· Nicholas Pinnock
· Richard Dormer
· Sofie Gråbøl
· Stanley Tucci

Anyone watching this? I saw the preview at the theater last night. Episode 1 is re-airing tonight at 10:00 p.m.

re: Fortitude (Amazon Prime) -- Series Thread

So, I did advance search, and couldn't find anything on this show. I do search this forum to find my post, and I see the original thread.

Please delete - thanks

I tried watching the first hour but it was pretty slow and didn't hold my attention. I might have watched it in summer, but I have too many other shows to watch right now and I need to trim the DVR fat.

Watched episode 3 tonight and am curious to see where this goes. Stanley Tucci is pretty good in this. Must have been difficult to film in the extreme weather conditions it takes place in.

Just finished the season. Interesting show, and a really good cast. I wonder where they will go with a second season. I'm betting
Spoiler:
the tusks which were stolen from Ronnie cause an outbreak back on the mainland

Two years later, but I finally watched this series in the last 2 weeks, or so.

Loved it! Great atmosphere, excellent cast, and a story that had many surprises. It had a little bit of a "The Thing" vibe going on.

Some really repulsive scenes, too. Really repulsive...

I think you're right about S2. I'll start watching that tonight.

Not really keen on the first two episodes of the second series.

It has a different feel, for some reason.

Just binged the entire series. This now beats Outcast as my favorite horror-show. It was brilliant... can't stress that enough.

The show is now on Amazon Prime and it's 2 seasons in now.

The Pivot network also went out of business.

Since this is not a very active thread, probably needs a re-title.

I'd forgotten about this.

I guess I'll get back to it, then. I loved the first season, so hopefully the second gets better.

I'm a big fan of Misfits and Nathan is in season two. I kept waiting for him to say "Save me Barry!"

And nobody is safe in the show... Very Game of Thrones level of deaths.

I'm with you. I watched the first episode over the weekend and wasn't all that impressed. Then again the first season took drastic turns pretty quickly and startled the heck out of me multiple times. Will watch a few more before passing judgement.

Just finished a binge of both seasons.
Really, really loved it.

Even though I enjoyed the first season immensely I thought s02 was the better of the two. Stanley Tucci in s01 was stellar, and that was in a show that already had Michael Gambon owning every scene he was in.

The cast additions in s02 were terrific (Quaid, Nagra) and I saw things I did not want to see (s02 e09, I am looking at YOU).

Now, where's my Petra/Ingrid show?

Re: Fortitude (Amazon Prime) -- Series Thread

I'm glad they didn't just cancel the show and thankfully gave it a few episodes to tie it up, but I really wanted a full season 3 (and 4, and 5). I think Amazon will have the last few episodes by the end of the year, but I've not heard a peep recently.
