Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Netflix) - Season 1 Thread - S: Kemper, Creator: Tina Fey
This looks hilarious. I always liked Ellie Kemper on The Office, the premise is great and I love the Netflix model. Premieres March 6th!

That's a pilot NBC passed on. Like they're so flush with great comedies on that network that they didn't need this one.

I read about this in the EW. NBC really wanted to build a sitcom around Kemper after the Office, so the executives reached out to Tina Fey to write it. I'm kinda glad NBC passed on it so they'll have more freedom in Netflix.

Kemper was my least favorite part of The Office, and Krakowski my least favorite part of 30 Rock. However, this doesn't look terrible.

I'll give it a try. 30 Rock is gold. So I'll check out anything connected to it.

I'm eight episodes in and have laughed quite a bit so far. Really digging it.

I like this show, but it's probably good that it showed up on Netflix -- I can't see it being popular as a week to week show. But it works as a binge show.

Plowed through four episodes and loved it. Had to force myself to stop so I have some left over for tomorrow. Great show.

I watched first three episodes and I like it. The only characters I don't so far are the minor kid characters. I love the 90s references that Kimmy and Titus make.

I keep saying Law squiggle Order now
This is well written, Carol Kane is great at the innocent weird old person role and this is as true a spiritual successor to 30 Rock that anyone could hope for.

I watched 3 episodes today. This is hilarious. Ellie Kemper is absolutely awesome as Kimmy.
But you can tell, especially with the running time in the 24 minute range that these episodes were made for NBC. I can't wait to see what they do under the new Netflix guidelines for season 2.
Carol Kane is hilarious and I like the gay black roommate. It's funny to see how green Kimmy was coming out of the hole.
The theme song with auto tune was awesome hilarious.

Yeah, it never would have worked on regular TV. The comedy isn't close to being broad enough. It's damn funny, though. The last 3 episodes with the trial were absolutely hilarious. They were right up there with the best of Arrested Development.

was the entire first season filmed before the sale to Netflix? There's a Netflix binge-watching joke late in the season.

Re: Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Netflix) S: Kemper, Burgess (created by Tina Fey)
"I would be thrilled to do another show for broadcast in the future," Fey clarified. "I'm sure Robert would too. I think, you know we've been talking -- once the [Netflix] deal came through, we were sort of excitedly talking about, oh, we will have to find our own boundary next year. I mean, the tone of the show is set. So I don't think it'll be a drastic shift. But I think we'll have to find it as we go, as we start writing next year, of whether these guys encounter people swearing or people with their shirts off. I keep saying to Robert, 'It's going to be like that year when Stern went from regular radio to Sirius, and you're like, oh, now you can say whatever you want. Now what are you going to say.'"
