DC's Legends of Tomorrow (Arrow/Flash Spinoff to Star Routh, Lotz & Others)

http://deadline.com/2015/01/cw-looki...ca-1201347223/

EPs Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Marc Guggenheim, acknowledge this morning they’re in “very early talks” on the “very general idea” of an Atom series, expanding their DC comic empire at CW, beyond Arrow and The Flash.

Last July, CW announced Brandon Routh would had been signed to Arrow‘s third season, on a recurring basis, to play Atom, alter ego Ray Palmer, known for his ability to shrink and expand himself, and other objects, to advantage.

“We haven’t dug deeper on” it and are “not allowed” to discuss it, Berlanti told TV critics at Winter TV Press Tour 2015.

CW set the stage for DC comics news at the Press Tour with a heavily guarded display of character costumes.

The addition would be no real surprise,; Arrow is credited with helping define the CW — its latest iteration anyway — and The Flash now is the most watched show in the network’s history.

Kreisberg — asked why so many superhero TV shows now — pointed to TV’s advances in special effects which he said allow the medium to better keep pace with feature film.

Nothing set in stone yet. The Producers are in early talks.

Damn, pretty soon CW is going to be all DC comics shows.

I'm down for anything more as long as it keeps the quality of Arrow and Flash.

Sounds good. I'd rather watch DC on TV than at the movies anyway.

I hope Emily Bett Rickards guest stars in this one as well.

I've always liked Routh, and this production team has a proven track record.

Since they stuck Flash on another night, there is certainly room for a companion show to either Arrow or Flash. I understand the CW concerns though.

I've always like the Atom. I do hope they change the setup for the show, I don't think we need another superhero w/ a team helping him out.

Re: Atom -- In Development at The CW -- From the Producers of Arrow & The Flash

While Routh has been good as the character on Arrow, this is a bigger challenge for the CW than either Arrow or The Flash. While the Atom has been around comic books for decades, he's been a third-string character much of the time. The show's writers will be on their own with his character and how they approach the storytelling.

I assume this talk is getting publicly mentioned since the CW is waiting to see how audiences respond to Ant-Man at the movies.

It's certainly a very rugged, industrial design.

I agree. It won't work a third time.

Very cool. If it has the same quality as Arrow / Flash I'm down. Berlanti has gotta be getting spread pretty thin at this point though. Isn't he also in charge of Supergirl on CBS?

Yeah he's currently one of the busiest and most in demand TV producers right now. I think the Flash and Arrow staff will be spread very thin if The CW greenlights Atom as a series. It's inevitable that they have to hire new writers and producers to work on Atom otherwise one of the three shows quality will start to suffer.

They should just have The Atom as a mid season fill. Not saying they don't commit to the series, but they can do what AoS and Agent Carter are doing and still feel continuous with Arrow and Flash.

I don't mind Routh in the role, he looks like a hero. There were good reasons why he was cast as Superman. I am not sure the best Atom stories can regularly be pulled off on a television budget. You will need a very creative showrunner to get 20+ episodes a year from the character.

I wonder if they were considering Blue Beetle before the Atom, only to have their hand forced by Marvel's impending Ant-Man movie?

Officially in development for next season.

Brandon Routh, Victor Garber, Wentworth Miller & Caity Lotz would star. Not just an Atom show.

EXCLUSIVE: DC Comics superheroes are uniting in a potential new drama series at the CW, a spinoff from hits Arrow and The Flash that will feature several fan-favorite recurring actors/characters from both shows. I have learned that the network has teamed with Arrow creators Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim for a project eyed for next season toplined by Brandon Routh, Victor Garber, Wentworth Miller and Caity Lotz.

The untitled project, now in development, is described as a superhero team-up show. Routh, Miller and Garber will reprise their popular DC Comics characters — Arrow‘s Ray Palmer/The Atom (Routh), Flash villain Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (Miller), and Flash‘s Dr. Martin Stein (Garber). Because her Arrow character Sara Lance was killed off, with her sister Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) taking over as the Black Canary, it is unclear whether Lotz will play the same or new superhero.

The project is in early stages of development, so there is a possibility for other Arrow/Flash characters to cross over to the new spinoff. Additionally, in a tidbit that should get fans fired up, I have learned the new project will include three major DC Comics characters who have never appeared in a TV series.

This is the project CW president Mark Pedowitz vaguely referenced at TCA in January. It will not be part of the current pilot cycle. With the creative auspices and talent involved, I hear that it could go straight to series, possibly for next midseason.

Berlanti and Kreisberg, who also co-created The Flash, and Guggenheim executive produce with Sarah Schechter for Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Prods.

Teaming up superheroes has been a winning formula, as proven by the success of the Justice League and The Avengers comics. Marvel’s The Avengers have crossed over to features, with DC’s Justice League also on its way to the big screen. Routh is repped by UTA and Main Title, Lotz is repped by UTA and Atlas Artists.

Flashbacks or the Lazarus Pit. Or it turns out she shares Ollie's Wolverine-like healing abilities.

How long has Sara been 6 feet under? A couple of months now on the show? I think her body has already started decomposing a little.

A few months of death is nothing in comics. Characters suddenly resurrect from the dead after decades.

Please let this be Justice League International or Justice League Europe.

The Outsiders probably fits better for this group but that is Batman's bunch of cast-offs.
