I was mildly let down by the conversation between Samaritan and the Machine. One could easily get drunk if they drank every time someone uttered god on this show.
I think the Machine will have to sacrifice itself to stop Samaritan, possibly merging with it.

Agreed. But I found it kinda odd how they were putting him out there as the equal to Root being the other mouthpiece. Trying to say the kid is always controlled by the system, or just that 15 minutes. Either way...
For me the highlight was how good that younger guy was in portraying the same character as part of MI-6 in the 70's. Hopefully we get more of that.

I am guessing that at the end of the day, our heroes will succeed in defeating all the human allies of Samaritan, then they will cut all inputs to the machine. The god can then be running blind, deaf and dumb as a fitting punishment.
I thought the kid talking about how the two AI's needed people to supply data was foreshadowing of the final fate of Samaritan

Oh, and the final target subject will be the Machine. The scooby gang will be ordered (by the Machine) to kill the Machine because it doesn't want to be a threat in the future.

what was the point of showing that flashback stuff other than to setup this new character? seemed sort of odd for this show.

See I was confused. I thought the guy in the past was the new English enforcer guy in the present. I get what they did now but it didn't make sense to me as I was watching.

Agreed. It was some serious moustache-twirling dialogue there. "I shall destroy you." My eyes almost rolled out of my skull. I guess I was hoping for some more nuance and black and white between The Machine and Samaritan. Something more interesting than just, "Wanted to meet you and tell you I shall destroy you. MHWWAAAAHAHA"

Given that the guy playing young Greer has a totally different accent than John Nolan (the guy who plays present day Greer), I can see the confusion.
