They borrowed from Tod Browning's Freaks in a different way and I felt bad seeing what Dell did to Ma Petite.

Well that was sad. First he picks on the biggest woman and then the smallest.

Why would he go after the big woman first? I was hoping they would give a reason why he chose the one that could fight back the most.

He was probably a little scared of her. He didn't like there being a woman that could beat him.

I still can't wrap my brain around why they use modern music in the show. Love Nirvana, but it always feels so out of place and completely removes me from the mood.

I love it. It just adds to the weirdness of the show.

But you know it'll go unexplained. if there is a continuity thing that ties in modern music to a show set in the 50's, great. If it's just to be "cool", I'm not down.

I kind of like it, it reminds me of Bioshock. They speak with modern terms and slang also which I don't care about. However, I am kind of surprised by that because it makes me forget what the time period is.

My guess, similar to using modern music in the latest "The Great Gatsby," it's because the music that was shocking and surprising to audiences of the day seems really tame now. So they substitute more modern songs to throw off modern audiences the way 1920s/1950s listeners would have been.

Or maybe not. Just a theory.

Watching the freaks play "Come as You Are" made me chuckle as it seems like something Nirvana would have done for a music video back in the day.

I might, repeat, might be ok with the modern music if I could at least believe it was the people on the show performing it. It was so clear the freaks were miming to the Nirvana record it ended up being hilarious.

Agreed.

Just go with it, don't get hung up on it, and you'll be fine.
