I thought this was a really good episode.

The couch gag was so weird. It was like Eraserhead where you just watched and went WTF? And then immediately rewound to watch it again.

As for the episode itself, it had actual jokes. That were funny. And things happened that I did not see coming, and those were funny.

I laughed at a first-run Simpsons episode!

Next time I get high I'm going to rewatch that couch gag over and over...

Can anyone tell me why Ned Flanders' ghost flew across the opening credits? What was that about?

I took that as a fake-out for the death in the episode

I liked the couch gag and the episode, too.
But then again I watch the show because I still like it - unlike 99% of the people who post regularly in Simpsons threads

I missed the previews, what was his line?

I didn't mind the episode, but it was pretty meh overall.

The roast zingers were the best part of the show. "Krusty created itchy and scratchy, that's also what he named his testicles!" I lol'd at that.

Pretty shotty episodes for a premiere. Looks like another Simpsons-less season for me.

Are people unfamiliar with Don Hertzfeldt's films?

That show aired tonight before Bob's Burgers. I know why I didn't know about it, somehow I missed that ep from last season.

I was like WTF?? with the couch gag, but had a feeling it was some famous animator who was doing a spin on something else - so now I know it was Don Hertzfeldt.

Episode was ok.. and kind of wish they kept Homer's poor health going for a couple of episodes.

I also agree - they could have gotten a much better Dangerfield impersonator

They've more or less had that going for 26 seasons.
