Smug irony, detached pseudo-meta-humor, and flubbed delivery are teh new funny, apparently.

I thought more people would like this sketch since everyone here buys all the Marvel movies on Blu-ray

I liked the NFL sketches and Pete Davidson was funny.
Donald Washburn American Taliban
I hope Michael Che is better than this and you can bash Lorne but usually he does not mess up that bad with making cast selections.
Bad Boys the sitcom sketch was funny because it was weird.
The songs by Arianna Grande were not that bad and I am a old fart.
The pet hospital and booty rap sketches sucked.

I haven't watched SNL since the Will Ferrell/Darrell Hammond days, but I caught the 10PM rerun from 1975 where Richard Pryor hosted. Anyone get a chance and YouTube, and wow it is so funny, and very edgy.
This was the days before the PC Police came out in the media. The job interview with Richard Pryor/Chevy Chase going back and forth with racial insults was funny as hell!!!

Colin Jost was more confident this season. Unfortunately, his schtick as lead seems to be a slightly meaner, much snarkier rip on Seth Myers' style. I don't get how Che fits into the mix at all, as his delivery style wasn't apparent... I'll chalk it up to nerves for now, but he was awful here.
Even putting sound issues aside, Darrell Hammond was very bland in his first stab at announcing. It felt like he was trying way too hard to not use any Pardo-like inflections, but he ended up with no character in his voice at all.

Noel Wells at least provided eye candy. Instead, everyone received a 90 minute assault of Aidy Bryant on the season premiere. I've said it before, I'll say it again: she needs to be fired.
I'm surprised Lorne didn't shoe her into the last NFL sketch of the night.

Yay for diversity, now get Michael Che off of Weekend Update pronto. Although I didn't see the last episode. Please tell me he got sacked from that spot. I really have a feeling he's not going to get any better.
