I watched this earlier and I was thinking of Boyz in the Hood. I liked the pilot overall, but I kind of got bothered they are going with the common case of dad having crazy or weird ideas and mom being the voice of reason. That stuff can get old after awhile, I hope they don't go down that road too much.

He's only credited with the Pilot thus far (while other actors are for 13 eps). That said, Fishburne has been doing TV for the last 6 years, so being there permanently may not be out of the question. He did 61 episodes of CSI from 2008 - 2011 where he earned himself something like $21.5m in total, then joined Hannibal in 2013.

I surprisingly really liked it. Wasn't a big fan of the wife but I can overlook that because the rest of the show made me laugh. I'm in for the rest of the season.

Didn't like it as much as others seemed to have, but I'll give it another episode or two to see if it gets better.

Side note, Diane Ross's son married Ashlee Simpson and made sure there was a prenup before she would allow her son to marry her. Smart lady.

I thought it was enjoyable, although it seemed like most of the pilot I saw in various commercials. I'll be interested in the next couple episodes and see if they manage to make the concept interesting or do the same predictable gags.

I am really liking this show - my first 'must see' of the fall season. Really funny and a lot more edgy and ballsy than I had thought it'd be. Love the two youngest kids, they are hilarious.

I saw ep 2 and it was funnier than I expected. I noticed it quickly turned into a generic, but still funny, "Family Sitcom".

Watching the last two episodes and I found myself laughing ALOT more than I expected. I remember walking into my sons room when I thought he was sleeping.....awkward!!!

I'm surprised this show isn't getting more run here. I think it's absolutely hilarious. A worthy successor to the Bernie Mac Show. A black show that's not stuck on cable or CW.

The spanking one was good but I really love the head nod one. I have that discussion at work all the damn time. One coworker is like "you say so much with just a head nod". Yeah it gives a lot of info with no words. btw, I'm urban in the sense that I live in a city and I'm a minority but not black, I'm Puerto Rican, so zoomgirl, can I get pass? I offer no magic, but I get the "why do Puerto Ricans do...." and I have to say, I've never seen any Puerto Rican doing that... and it just leads to more stupid questions.

I didn't like the pilot episode because I just disliked the idea that black folks just can't be people too or a regular family (like Modern Family, for example), it has to constantly call out their blackness as if they are an alien life form.
With that said, I watched the next two episodes and by the end of the third episode (The Nod), I'm really digging this show. I think it's settling down and finding itself. And as a fan of The Bernie Mac Show, you can see a small taste of that show's imprint here (likely due to Wilmore).

Like I said, I like this show. But i'm realizing all the Black folks around me either hate it, or refuse to watch it. Am I an "Uncle Tom?
In all honesty the name "black-ish" is a huge turn off for many of them so they won't even give it a chance. They figure the show is just a bunch of disrespectful shit on TV to make Blacks look like Clowns or sell outs.

I think it has more to do with Anthony Anderson than the name of the show. He doesn't have the black following that a Bernie Mac had.

The name of the show almost made me not watch it. Same problem Black Jesus title had. The show isn't about race issues so the name is misleading.

Honestly, the title made me feel like this would be Cosby Show: The Next Generation and I grew so tired of Bill and Co. I personally related to the Bundy's more than that crew.
I was absolutely surprised at how much I enjoyed it, especially in the family trying to learn what it means to be persons of color in today's age, in a new social standing but not making it a soapbox show.
The spanking episode with Traci trying to avoid her son's stare, comedy gold.
