Episode 4 will probably remain one of the greatest TV experiences of all time though. Holy shit was that episode spellbinding.
I'm still excited for season 2, but reserved in my optimism.
Taylor Kitsch, I love him but does he have the gravitas to pull off a Harrelson/McConaughey style performance? I don't know if I'll ever be able to see him as someone other than Tim from FNL.

I guess I was entirely satisfied with how season one played out and think its one of the best seasons of a series in a long time. Granted its sort of hard to judge the series and compare it with other shows that are airing because its really almost more like a miniseries that continues on with only a running title but still. Solid performances by the entire cast and a great overall story. I liked how it didn't necessarily play out like people thought it would.

In perhaps the most random addition to the show ever, Rick Springfield tweeted a few days ago that he is part of the cast for True Detective season 2.

Re: True Detective (HBO) -- Season 2 News, Rumors
Amid the buzz surrounding the casting for True Detective's season two, the HBO drama recently made some unorthodox hires: porn stars.
Sources say at least two major talents in the adult film industry, Amia Miley and Peta Jensen, both 24, were hired for a deliriously vast, Eyes Wide Shut-caliber orgy sequence involving dozens of naked bodies. According to participants in the scene, the sequence was shot over the past few days in a Pasadena mansion. Season two stars Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams were also present for filming.
Funny twist: The adult actresses apparently are among the few people who actually don't get totally naked.
HBO declined to comment on the hires, and all participants have signed nondisclosure agreements that prevent them from discussing their work on the secretive series created by Nic Pizzolatto, but a source says the production didn't hire Miley and Jensen for their porn experience. The women signed up with the extras casting service the show is using and were employed along with dozens of other men and women willing to strip down for the Emmy-winning drama.
Miley, who was recently named the 44th "hottest" porn star by Complex, also appeared in the gritty Power Rangers remake that surfaced on the Internet in February. It's unclear whether additional adult film actors — male or female — were involved in the orgy shoot.

A bizarre murder brings together three law-enforcement officers and a career criminal, each of whom must navigate a web of conspiracy and betrayal in the scorched landscapes of California. Colin Farrell is Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective in the all-industrial City of Vinci, LA County. Vince Vaughn plays Frank Semyon, a criminal and entrepreneur in danger of losing his life’s work, while his wife and closest ally (Kelly Reilly), struggles with his choices and her own. Rachel McAdams is Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County Sheriff’s detective often at odds with the system she serves, while Taylor Kitsch plays Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle cop for the California Highway Patrol who discovers a crime scene which triggers an investigation involving three law enforcement groups, multiple criminal collusions, and billions of dollars.

I don't mean to pick on you Draven, I just can't help myself from jumping on anyone who thinks you can determine anything about how good or bad Season 2 will be from that trailer. It gives us ZERO indication of what to expect in terms of quality.

I think its fair to be excited about something with who you have writing the episodes and the actors involved. I mean its better than people swearing off the season because its not Matthew and Woody.

Looking forward to season 2. it's amazing how in 2015 there are now 3 seasons of TV for viewers: Fall, Spring and now Summer. 20-30 years ago, a summer TV season was unheard of.
Glad that HBO continues to program year round to make their channel worth the money.
I think Summer is a good time period for this show. Less competition, especially from the networks, so more eyes can be on it. Especially now for the non-cable people with HBO Now giving them to ability to watch this and not have to wait for the BDs or pirate it.

Yes it does. It gives an indication of gorgeous filming, character looks and more. Just an indication yes, but still...

I liked Season 1 a lot, I like all of the main actors, I like the plot synopsis I've read, and I like the look of the trailer. In my opinion, it would be weird if it WASN'T good. .

Re: True Detective (HBO) -- Season 2 News, Rumors
The trailer for the first series did nothing for me. I thought it looked like a generic cop show featuring two actors I honestly didn't really like, and I wondered why HBO was putting something like this on. Their shows are usually better than what these commercials were advertising.
Turned out to be one of the best shows of last year.
Lesson learned: a two minute trailer for an 8 (?) hour series shouldn't mean jack shit.
I jumped the gun based on casting rumors for this season already, kind of writing it off. I should know better than that.

Oh, I don't disagree with that...it's just that there's a big difference between "I'm excited to see this" and "It looks fantastic!" People are doing the same with the JURASSIC WORLD trailers - letting their anticipation cloud what is actually being shown to them. Just my opinion, of course.
