Re: TURN: Washington's Spies (AMC) - Season 2 Discussion Thread - Premieres 4/13/15
For me this is a show that's good enough to watch but not get too excited about. Helps that I'm a history buff.

Only watched the first 25 minutes or so, but I'm just happy that they fixed the British flag in the opening credits.

Been a fan since the beginning. A very well done show that I'm glad was renewed. Hopefully they will stick it out "until the last Kingsman is on his way back to England".

Been watching Season 1 on Netflix, almost done. I like it just enough to keep on watching, but I agree with the sentiment that it's slow moving and lacks alot excitement. I guess what I do like about it are some of the characters (Abe, Ben, Washington, and Stephen Root's character), there are a handful of tense scenes per episode, and the acting is 1st class. Plus I like the setting of a show as a history buff.

Just finally caught up on Season 2 and wish I watched it as it aired. Enjoyed this season even more than the first. Like seeing George Washington as often as we did.

I just finished binge watching the season yesterday. Really enjoyed it. I don't know why I waited so long to watch it. I did the same thing for season 1.

Just started watching Season 2, I had them sitting on the dvr all summer while catching up with other shows. Not sure why I waited either, I really enjoyed Season 1.

Bump
For anyone who cares, season 3 premieres tonight on AMC
10 episode season
Seasons 1 and 2 are still on Netflix for anyone who needs to catch up.

This is one of those shows that I like but I have to DVR and binge once the season is over. There's too many shows on this time of the year for me.

With the father? I've seen him turning on his son for some time now. Should be fun to see where they go from there.
Yes, the actor that plays Simco has a voice that doesn't fit with the rest of him. But in a strange way I've got used to it and it fits his being such a slime-ball.
Robert Rogers continue to be my favorite character on the show and it appears this season isn't going to change that.

If he was going to switch sides, he would have already done it. He certainly has been given enough chances to based on what has happened and what he has learned about those he trusted above his own family. But as that scene at the grave site showed us, he blames the family for what has happened, not the Brits.

Angus Macfadyen is brilliant in the role...compulsively watchable.
Too bad he won't be available for a role in Game of Thrones final season (assuming that next year wraps up as planned). That is, unless the Rogers character gets bumped off this season or a small role comes available for GoT.
He's one of those actors like Ray Winstone, Brendan Gleeson, Ray Stephenson, Phillip Seymour Hoffman (RIP) who can just mesmerize onscreen when given the right part...and seem to always turn in a good performance even in subpar material.
The Rogers character is always interesting, and Macfadyen manages a bit of sympathetic spin to an otherwise ruthless character.

This season has been great, the show has really found its groove...hope it gets picked up for at least 1 more season to wrap everything up.
The acting has always been first rate, but the action and tension has picked up compared to the first two seasons, which were more of a slow burn.

I agree that this season has been great. Best yet. Would be a shame if they don't carry this through the end of story as we know it.
Watched the most recent episode last night. The highlight of the episode was how the the whole Benedict stuff came to a head all at once.

I finally binge watched Season 1. Definitely slow, but I enjoyed it. Probably not a show that's easy to discuss much weekly. I'll try to watch S2 soon.

I started watching in Season 1 and drifted away for no good reason. I need to revisit this and The Americans. Maybe I found my holiday viewing for December and January!
