Right, and most of those have also been writers on the show, so not only have they lost on-screen talent, but joke-writing talent as well.

No, I think it's more the kind of editorializing they do now that they didn't used to do as much.

The gay Nintendo characters bit was hilarious. The GM stuff was great, too.

Loved the part about the Blockbuster Video CEO and killing 13 people and they'd still be in business.

I also saw that Oliver signed a 2 year deal, and assuming he is like Maher in terms of scheduling, there will only be a few 'vacation' weeks'. ie not a 13 weeks and see how they like it

That was a fantastic show last night. Not only the Net Neutrality bit, but the stuff about the Spelling Bee and the PM of Australia as well.

When I go here: http://www.fcc.gov/comments and click on the "protecting and promoting and open internet" ( http://apps.fcc.gov/ecfs/comment_sea...oceeding=14-28 ) I get "problem loading page". Seems they shut it off.

I've been pleasantly surprised by this show and I eagerly check out the YouTube clips every Monday morning (I don't have HBO). After keeping so many of their shows so closely guarded for years I'm glad HBO got smart and is giving this topical show the widespread YouTube platform it needs to get the word out there. It's as poignant as it is funny so the satire just plain works. Not only going for laughs, really trying to make a solid point. Good for Oliver and Company.

very impressed on who he got to cameo tonight, in a bit about pandering to the audience. He was talking about Dr Oz on capital hill

This show has really come into its own in recent episodes. Lots of funny stuff and this past week's bit on for-profit universities really was eye-opening as well.

Plus there was the indelible sex gecko memorial tribute:

Just in case anyone missed it, while the show was on break, John Oliver filmed a bit with Cookie Monster:

Be sure to check out the outtakes as well.

I was kind of surprised Oliver didn't touch the leaked celebrity nudes in Sunday's show...seems like material that is ripe for humor. However, since the show is on HBO and HBO has to work with many of those actors, maybe they decided it was best not to poke fun at anyone.

To tide fans over for their off week, Oliver has posted a web exclusive rant against pumpkin spice.

Good edit, although I'm thinking maybe 5 minutes is too long to keep the amusement level up.

The Verge has done a video piece about the Supreme Court Aereo case using the footage:

The pumpkin spice rant was pretty stupid and way too easy a target. I've enjoyed the episodes I've seen though.

I went back and caught up on all of the episodes, and I'm a big fan now. For the most part, great stuff.

I agree, the joke can't sustain that length but I wasn't turning back.
