Zombieland TV Series coming to Amazon Streaming
Sounds interesting. Is this Amazon's first original series?
Zombieland TV Series Heading to Amazon
Zombieland is being developed as an original series by Amazon.com, according to Broadcast Now.
Originally rumoured to be heading to FOX, the series will apparently eschew the traditional broadcast model altogether by streaming on Amazon's instant video service. io9.com recently obtained some casting sheets from the show, which called for the return of the movie's four major characters - Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita, and Little Rock - plus two newcomers, Fred and Ainsely. The latter pair are described as 'two office workers at the start of the zombie apocalypse, obliviously complaining about problems with their iPhones and getting the wrong order at Starbucks.'

Here's some details with possible spoilers:
First Hints About How Zombieland Will Become a Weekly TV Show
Zombieland was one of the freshest horror comedies of the past decade — and there were reports in late 2011 that it was going to become a TV show for CBS. Now, it looks like the Zombieland TV show is actually a real thing, because casting calls just went out yesterday for the show's main characters.
We got hold of some script pages that are being used for casting purposes — which may or may not be indicative of what the actual pilot will end up being like, since a lot will change between now and then. But they definitely give us a sense of how the TV show will reinvent the main characters and their backstory a bit. There are casting calls for the four major characters from the film (Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita and Little Rock) plus a couple minor characters.
Here's how the characters would be portrayed somewhat differently on TV:
All in all, it's very much in keeping with the style of humor of the film — and more importantly, the characters feel much the same. And at the same time, it sounds as though moving the romance between Columbus and Wichita forward will be a major focus of the TV show, and the relationships among the four main characters will probably become a bit sweeter and more like a family as the show goes on. But as a half-hour comedy about zombies, it looks quite promising.

Not a surprise as the movie was originally written as a television pilot.
I personally would've liked a sequel.

Amazon’s ‘Zombieland’ Pilot Casts 2 Leads
Sundance breakout Tyler Ross, star of indie Milkshake, and up-and-comer Izabela Vidovic have been cast as two of the four leads in Zombieland, Amazon Studios’ comedy pilot based on the hit 2009 movie.
The project, produced by Sony TV, is a continuation of the adventures of Tallahassee, Columbus (Ross), Wichita, and her younger sister Little Rock (Vidovic) — four humans who band together to survive the zombie apocalypse. In the movie, the “nerdy handsome” Columbus, who also narrates the story, was played by Jesse Eisenberg; Little Rock, a worldly girl hardened by adversity, was portrayed by Abigail Breslin. Original Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick wrote the pilot and executive produce with the movie’s producer, Gavin Polone.

Yeah I get the feeling this will be bad. The original film is great and a sequel to it would possibly be cool to see but I don't think it really needed to be a series. The cast just doesn't look right from the pictures posted.

/\ It was originally conceived as a series, and I think the premise could support it.
That being said, the cast does look awful. I would much prefer if they were playing different characters.

According to Bloody Disgusting, the pilot will be available on Prime streaming tomorrow, 4/18. Definitely will check it with an open mind, at least the original writers are on board. Might be fun if you can get past the replacement cast.

The one thing I don't like is that they're running with the same characters. The movie worked fine as a standalone, I would have no qualms following a new group of people.

I think Zombieland is just the pilot, then if it gets picked up they'll produce the remaining seasons episodes. AD got the whole season already, so that might explain why its taking longer.

Looks like Amazon is going to ask the audience to look at 14 pilot episodes and then decide whether or not to produce any of them.

Looks like what one would expect from a Web series.
Amazon, Netflix you are not.

The comedy tone in that clip feels way off from the movie... much too 'early 90s Fox sitcom'. For whatever reason it reminds me of one of those bad US adaptations of a good UK sitcom. But I'll still try the pilot. It's only 29 minutes.
