I miss this show. It was so much fun, even when it became "Jordan finds merchandise for new B-List celebrity".

I wouldn't say I miss it, but it was good filler to turn on while surfing the net.

Given that 80s and 90s nostalgia is still big, kind of surprised there hasn't been a revival somewhere like on Netflix, Hulu or Amazon. Watched some episodes a week or so ago, ones I had already seen, and still really enjoyed it.

The whole series is available on the Travel Channel's Roku app.

I agree, I'm surprised some streaming service hasn't picked this up. Or done something similar.

Re: Toy Hunter - Travel Channel (Wednesdays)

For a minute I thought the bump was news that this was coming back. Funny enough I was actually just thinking about this show recently and was looking on Amazon to see if it’s on DVD at all (looks like only the first season is available burn on demand). I think the first season (maybe the second as well) was the best and it lost a bit of its luster when it started being Jordan hunting toys for random celebrities instead of just stuff for his shop or for him to take to conventions or whatever. Not the best show or anything, but decent shut off your mind and relax entertainment.

I do miss this show

I watched all of Vintage Tech Hunters, which was pretty good. They only showed the finding aspect of vintage tech, not selling on to others

YouTube has filled a lot of the niche that "educational" TV used to fill. Since every single program on these channels has to be reality TV based now. If you liked this check out Toy Galaxy on YouTube.

According to a "friend of a friend" who has a bit of an inside scoop, Jordan was shopping this around to other channels but I don't know what ever became of that. I'll try to find out.

I met him a few times at his booth at NYCC, and that seemed to be the story for a couple years until I stopped asking. Seemed like a very friendly guy, although I respected the fact that he was there to sell his merch, not have a meet & greet.

Re: Toy Hunter - Travel Channel (Wednesdays)

Given how cheap the show looked, I am still flabbergasted no channel has picked it up. Speaking frankly, I'd bet that Jordan would find a taker if he brought on a minority co-host or someone with a little name recognition beyond toy circles. It's just how people in Hollywood think.

Re: Toy Hunter - Travel Channel (Wednesdays)

Agreed on both. It looks like Mark Huckabone was being "groomed" as a kind of co-host/adversary in some episodes. Although he doesn't have much name recognition outside toy circles, within toy circles he is very well known (I knew of him, and met him, waaaay before I ever heard of Jordan), and he definitely has Hollywood connections (pretty sure Huckabone was the guy that sold Dicaprio a bunch of Megos back in the day). Not sure how much he would help though, but I thought he was a pretty good foil for Jordan (even though a lot of it was fabricated of course, the nature of "reality" TV).

You can try Slobbys World on Netflix. It has some toys here and there.

Re: Toy Hunter - Travel Channel (Wednesdays)

Too much 'fakery' for me. I watched simply to see the toys I used to have growing up. Other than that, not a fan of the setups. They ran a marathon last week on Travel Channel.

Thanks for the link. This is the kind of stuff I like to see. Not something setup to make a happy ending for all.

That's why I love YouTube as a medium now. No need for approval from executives or worrying about ratings. It's just pure passionate (and knowledgeable) people making videos for other people passionate about a very niche thing.

Re: Toy Hunter - Travel Channel (Wednesdays)

There is a new collector's show you guys might like. It's not exclusively toys though. It's called "Collector's Call" and is hosted by Lisa Welchel. It just focuses on a single person's collection every episode. Last week was a Winnie the Pooh collector, this week was a KISS collector. It runs on MeTV, at least in Chicago.
