I had also heard of it before the show. It was possibly made for Mexico or a cheap knock-off line.

Was there ever a reissue for the Hulk Mego?

Re: Toy Hunter - Travel Channel (Wednesdays)

I'm still mostly enjoying the show but I'm not sure why it seems like a lot of the episodes this season seem to be him focusing on getting items for a certain client. I liked it better in the first season where he was just going out and getting whatever items he needed for his store or for an upcoming convention or whatever.

The clients are obvious setups made by the producers. Reality show producers think every episode needs a "hook" to lure viewers beyond the average routine. More and more of this show seems to be staged for high drama and entertainment purposes. I still enjoy it, mostly for the rare items.

Re: Toy Hunter - Travel Channel (Wednesdays)

I knew Gene Simmons & Danny Badadouche but had never heard of the podcast guy.

I'm surprised he didn't take in the Captain America Rocket Car. They guy said on the phone Cap was one of his favorites. Whats the worst that can happen, the guy just buys one item. He might have bougt both.

LOL at Jordan thinking that a lot of people will call him for personal toy shopping. My personal toy shopping buyer is ebay. Won't pay Jordan's inflated prices either.

Well, to be fair, and assuming this show is legit (which is a big assumption given it is reality TV), he's not exactly catering to casual people. Based on the homes he goes to, these are obsessed collectors who will pay top dollar especially for items they might not be able to find on E-bay (plus one assumes they checked there already).

But it's just a set-up for the show rather than building his base or whatever (as if the show isn't already doing that).

Show might be staged to some extent but what he pays for a toy is his buying price which will always be lower than what he can sell it for.

He isn't buying these toys to keep, he is selling them.

He also can't buy a toy worth $100 for $100, he will try to get it for as low as possible to make money when he sells it.

Needs to pay for traveling costs too.
Exactly, and if its worth $100 you better try to get it for $35. People just don't get how business works. There are so many expenses that people don't see. I mean watch an episode of Pawn Stars where they have an expert come in and value widget x at $1000. They will ask the person what they want for it and they usually always say "Well he said it was worth $1000". Then the owner has to go thru the spill about how its going to sit on his shelf forever and he wont get that when it sells.....Jeesh

I believe there was never any Marvel Mego re-issues. DC and Star Trek, yes.

Correct. But vintage Mego Hulks are pretty common, so they aren't expensive. They tend to have notoriously fragile knee and elbow pins though, you see many carded ones broken inside the bubble.

The Incredible Hulk was Mego's all-time best-selling single figure.

That makes sense, the figures were most popular around the time of the Incredible Hulk TV show.

Re: Toy Hunter - Travel Channel (Wednesdays)

I picked up a Mego Hulk years ago due to him being featured in Twisted Toyfare Theater. Also got a Spiderman because of that. My Hulk is fine. The Spiderman had a busted leg pin which I had to repair.

He made me want to punch him in the last episode after he poached all the good G.I. joe stuff from the guy who had virtually everything Joe.

And he ripped him off on that helicopter, seriously underpaid $400 for $1500 item.

Meh, it was clear the guy just wanted to get rid of it all. If he cared about the value he could have done a little research before calling Jordan.

I was surprised at how recently that last episode was filmed. Wondercon in Anaheim was just 2 months ago. I was at the event, but didn't see Jordan's booth. (I was mostly in the second hall)

I was shocked he didn't take more of the guy's stuff. You'd think with all of it he'd have just gone with a blanket number and took everything.

As for ripping the guy off over the Tomahawk, its only ripping him off if the guy knew what the stuff was worth before he made the deal. If you honestly done' know, $400 sounds like a great number.

Re: Toy Hunter - Travel Channel (Wednesdays)

This show is always good for a laugh or two. Heres a dealer, who specialises in 70's and 80's lines, complaining that there was nothing exciting to buy(chicago toy museum visit) when there were Vintage Star Wars, Mega Turtles, and Shogun Warriors on the shelves. All of this sells but the show only highlights 3 or 4 purchases. I know the Toy Hunter is not stupid but why not offer to buy the whole lot? Maybe he does but they edit just to show a few.

Re: Toy Hunter - Travel Channel (Wednesdays)

I think he bought a whole lot more then they showed. At the convention, Jordan sure didn't have much GIJoe stuff there considering how much he hyped how big GIJoe is. Of course, that's all bull. GIJoe has been in the dumper for years. It has NEVER reached levels of fame as it did in the mid 80's.

Some of it was just drama for drama's sake. Jordan is freaking out about not having his precious GIJoe stuff and his friend arives with 3-4 boxes that he is carring all at once. That was hardly anything. You'd think that if those specific items were so important for the show, he'd make sure to take those items in his car and let the other guy take less important things. Maybe he should get a van instead of an SUV or at least one he can take the seats out to have more cargo space.

I normally agree but he did take that guy pretty hard on some of those items. Particularly as was mentioned that Tomohawk helicopter seemed like he really undercut the seller. I know it did seem like he was looking to get rid of stuff but it seemed like he really took advantage of him on that item.

I must have broken several of the Robins in my childhood, his figure seemed to break more easily than the others.

Re: Toy Hunter - Travel Channel (Wednesdays)

Man, I thought GI Joe always commanded a good dollar. I've been flipping toys at a summer flea market the past two years and Joes are always asked for. My most asked for action Figure line though is MotU.
