i was surprised he showed his ass.
I didn't know until i came here, and was saying "wow that guy sure looks like Walt Goggins" for the whole scene. thought maybe i would check IMDB and see it was his brother or something.

Re: Sons of Anarchy -- "Orca Shrugged" -- 10/09/12
The one scene not withstanding, this show has started to slide again the last few episodes.
The Gemma/Tara dynamic just seems too off and on. There was one tremendous scene three (?) episodes ago after the Wendy crap where Gemma asks "what are you going to do, kill me?" and Tara responded "No but maybe my husband will"... and then 3 shows later they are buddies again (well maybe not buddies) and sharing thoughts? Why is Tara even talking to Gemma, at all?
The Cartel/Irish Kings stuff seems to be dragging - I realize they have to do this to have a credible reason for Clay to still be breathing, but I thought it was simply one deal and the club aspect (and RICO issues) would be done?
The Nero storyline seems forced; he lost a lease on a building, not his business. Now he is getting in bed with his new best friend for 50% of his business because he has access to more girls and needs a new lease? This was a guy who talked about being cautious and staying under the radar and now he gets in bed with Jax on the promise the club business won't mix?
It seems like Sutter is more focused on creating scenes (like the Goggins scene or the Opie prison scene) than keeping a consistent story/characters.

The Nero storyline can be explained with the fact that he can make more money and get closer to his goal to buy the farm for his kid even with splitting the take with the Club, so I get that.
The Tara/Gemma thing I don't get it's like Sutter is trying to keep his wife on screen more.
The Cartel and Irish kings was not for just one deal, it was for a continuing relationship. But I agree, Clay needs to die and so do the three newbies who are doing the break ins. No one's even said anything about Tig being alive after he killed Donna and caused Opie to be killed. I'll still watch cause it's entertaining but some times I shake my head in disbelief at some of the things the club does and doesn't do..

Tara is just teetering on the edge of insane. Sutter seems serious about his Hamlet/Macbeth thing, and she's clearly our Ophelia with a dash of Lady Macbeth thrown in. The Gemma/Tara stuff doesn't drag the show down too much if you ask me (in terms of history and even now). I do think they're grasping for things to do with Gemma to keep her on screen and wish they'd be a bit more willing to go a span of episodes without her.
I think the way they explained Nero, Jax is bringing a good quality property and the promise of being left alone plus some additional talent to use. The deal makes sense.
I tend to agree it's mostly how are some of these people alive that is the problem. They pretty much know somebody ratted out the club other than Otto, but they haven't been trying to figure it out? At minimum, I'd think there would be some paranoia. Clay living is well explained, and I don't expect anybody to act on Tig at the moment, but you would think there would at least be some hard feelings.

OMG! That might have been the best cameo I've ever seen on a show ever. Holy fuck.
I loved Tig looking at her/him.

The breast and finger from the Ashley Tisdale character (Emma?). When Jax saved her from Nero's gangbanger "pals", they required him to show them her "tit and finger" to prove he took care of her. Jax had no intention of killing her, so he asked his guy Skeeter, who works at the funeral home, to get the parts for him, one assumes from a random but appropriately sized dead body.

Sorry to bump an old thread but I caught up to this episode the other night... having just watched the Justified series finale, this was one of the best SoA episodes yet! Walter Coggins was fantastic! I had no idea he was in The Shield - so I may have to check that series out next.
So I'm five seasons in and like the rest of you, I hope Gemma dies. She makes Skylar look like a sunshiny day.
How do the next two seasons hold up? Is S5 decent but S6 is better or does this series peter out kind of like Lost did? I appreciate any input without spoilers.

It is a convoluted mess. And just goes downhill.
