Vince Vaughn to produce Brady Bunch reboot

How long will this last?

Quote:
CBS has placed a script order for a reboot of the classic TV series "The Brady Bunch," which is being executive-produced by "The Watch" star Vince Vaughn, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

The reboot will revolve around divorced dad Bobby Brady -- the youngest son on the original series -- who's remarried to a woman with children of her own, and with whom he also has a child. On top of it, theĀ ex-spouses of Brady and his wife are still involved with their lives.

In addition to Vaughn, the project is being executive-produced by Lloyd Schwartz, son of "Brady Bunch" creator Sherwood Schwartz, as well as his Wild West Picture Show Productions partners Victoria Vaughn (his sister) and Peter Billingsley, and "My Name Is Earl" and "Raising Hope" writer/producer Mike Mariano, who's writing the project.

CBS Television Studios is producing.

The original Brady Bunch, which followed Mike and Carol Brady and their collective brood, ran from 1969 to 1974. The series also spawned a series of movies, starring Gary Cole and Shelley Long, that brought a contemporized, ironic flair to the Brady story.

Re: Vince Vaughn to produce Brady Bunch reboot

It sounds like just another zany romantic comedy more than anything to do with the Brady Bunch.

For continuity, will Bobby be in a wheelchair?

I thought Peter (middle son) was in the wheelchair.

Not really a reboot since it seems to consider the original show in its continuity. Just throws out the 90's show.

Now a movie based around Cousin Oliver, that sounds like it would be interesting. Seriously.

Needs to be a prequel to the TV show! (Okay, that would suck too, but at least it would be "something". Okay, it wouldn't. I got nothing. )

I think the most surprising thing is that Vince Vaughn has the clout to produce anything.

Re: Vince Vaughn to produce Brady Bunch reboot

^^ Well, if ALL the characters will be overly dramatic, uptight and not funny, he's the guy.

I think Vaughn realizes he isn't the draw he was back in his Dodgeball/Wedding Crashers days and is slowly attempting to move into production and TV. His first attempt at it was Sullivan and Son on TBS which debuted about 3 weeks ago and is doing quite well for a 10 pm cable sitcom (2.5m viewers, 0.9 demo rating) which is probably how he got the go ahead for his Brady Bunch relaunch.

If you have a recognizable name, you have the clout to launch a show.

Re: Vince Vaughn to produce Brady Bunch reboot

Right now it does not mean anything as they are just putting an order in for a script; it may never get past that.

Sullivan and Son is actually pretty good. I was stunned.

Re: Vince Vaughn to produce Brady Bunch reboot

Sullivan & Son looks pretty interesting from the commercials, I'll probably watch some episodes if they're on In Demand.
