So Rothstein and Nucky were behind the attempted hit on Rosetti? I wasn't paying attention for parts of the episode.

Jesus Van Alden's wife is ruthless.
Seems like it. Rothstein was there when Gyp ordered the paper service and told the kid where he was staying. Plus I'm Pretty sure the kid who tried to kill Gyp is the same one who runs heroin for Luciano.

The kid (aka bugsy siegel) doing the hit was the same one filing off the serials numbers on the gun in the room with Lanksy. (I think)

BTW, it shows how much of a bad ass Chalky is that even though I know Eddie Cantor lived to a ripe old age, I was scared for him in the scene where he's persuaded to star in the show with Billie.

That whole Gyp Rosetti assassination scene was incredible, the way it tracked Cannavale overhead as he walked down the hallway like a grunting animal -- reminded me of Scorsese's camerawork at his best in Goodfellas.
And thumbs up for the gratuitous and impressive full frontal Cannavale!
And with that, a million gay male viewers just went to preorder the Bluray of this season!
Great episode

I think this was the first mention that Gyp was connected to Masseria. Rothstein had been hesistant to start anything with Masseria, so I don't know why he would go along with the attempt.
It sounded like they're going to arrest someone for bootlegging. If Gyp is bringing in booze to Tabor Heights then I think it'll be him. I mean they can't arrest Nucky every season can they?

I loved Eddie asking about Lucy, then saying "The next one won't know who you are either."
Nucky should have hired Harrow for the hit.

Is it really a rip off when he's an EP and directed the series premier? That scene was awesome!

Van Aldens wife cracked me up also, just leaping to the "I'll hold his legs".

Yeah but everytime I see Chalky I'm imagining him walking down the street in an overcoat hiding a shotgun whistling 3 Blind Mice as he stalks his prey. I don't know where that comes from...

Milky.
The hitman scene was awesome. I don't really understand what Rossetti's plan was though. He's not a supplier, so even if he had Nucky's shipment from the ambush, he can't be a long term supplier to Rothstein. Not sure what the end game was. And at how he spooked the shit out that poor paperboy.

Van Alden has the most supportive "wife" in the history of television. Holy cow but she's the complete package for a nutjob like him.

This is easily the best thing going on television right now. Steve Buscemi in particular was brilliant this episode, especially his early scene with Rothstein. This show is so well written and directed that other entire networks should fold out of shame.

I agree that this is the best show on TV today - however, Boardwalk Empire threads take a backseat to the fans of The Walking Dead. I like the Walking Dead, too, but it ain't no Boardwalk Empire! Oh well.
I loved Bugsy's screech of crazed joy after he ran out of Rosetti's and into the getaway car - sort of a post-battlecry!
Nucky's "look" after Canter left with his forgotten vodka bottle was priceless. It was a look that said "i hate to do this, but you leave me no choice."

I love Chalky's right-hand man - I hope the actor playing him doesn't get fed up with the limited screen time and goes elsewhere.

Dunn Purnelsey is awesome. According to the producers that was just supposed to be a one episode role. But he blew them away with his performance and they wrote him into the show as a regular.
