This was probably my favorite episode in a long time simply because it just dealt with people coming into the store to buy/sell. Nothing felt forced or just over the top stupid. It's what I loved about the show originally.

That was a brave young woman, dragging her totally uninterested friends in a comic book store. I guess the lure of ending up on television ruled the day. I have a feeling those young ladies will never step foot in another comic book store.

Sadly, I was thinking the entire time that they were just tagging along with that girl to get on TV. Shows how I think.

The reason Smith's daughter was there wasn't of course so she could learn how to clerk for that upcoming movie, he had her there basically learning how to act for that upcoming movie and thought the "reality show" would be a good way for her to get her feet wet since we know there sadly isn't much real about it.

On the flipside there is no way those Rudolph figures were worth $70, let alone the $150 Walt will price it at. They've been producing similar Rudolph toys pretty much yearly.

Agreed, I bought similar figures last year on clearance. They do look very cool under the Christmas tree.

I don't remember the treehouse either...I did have the Mego Batcave and Mego Enterprise (not anymore, sadly). But wow...that treehouse was a piece of junk. I'd be entertained with that for about 5 minutes.

I wonder why that doctor would sell the Apes treehouse and the USS Flag GI Joe set on a episode from last season since he is probably not struggling for money unless he just wants to be on TV or a plant?

Take everything you see on CBM with a huge grain of salt...who knows if the customers are the actual owners of these items, or even really sell them to the store? Sometimes I wonder if AMC acquires some of this stuff just to have something to show off, then finds a local who wants to be on TV to pretend as if he/she is selling it.

I have similar concerns about Pawn Stars these days, too. Bottom line, just enjoy it for what it is.

I remember back in the 80's when they were going for a shitload. I still have my set but I also bought the leatherbound hardcover with all the Miller Batman stories even though I owned all the floppies.

It also looks like the Rudoph figure blister was replaced because the plastic looked really yellowed out compared to the others.

Being an old guy. I have several versions of Miller's "Dark Knight" (including the originals), and the same with Alan Moore's "The Watchmen". Back in the day, getting collections, -trades and hardbacks, - of titles was considered something special. Actually, I was thrilled to be buying those early Marvel trade collections (the "Marvel's Greatest Battles" also featured in the episode was one of those), even though in retrospect they didn't amount to much. Today it's expected that just about everything is going to be collected at the end of a run.

I'm glad a came along in the trade paperback era, my OCD personality would've killed me if I'd gotten into collecting comics. I buy trades pretty much exclusively, between the price of single issues now and storage space, I feel better about it, and I think it's more practical and gives you more bang for your buck. Plus, I don't have to worry about delays .

I recently started selling off huge parts of my collection mostly because I realized that I had too much crap. I'm trying to focus on one or two themes instead of just collecting as much stuff as I can. That's my reason for getting rid of some really cool things at least.

I liked this week's episode too. The bullshit was kept to a minimum and the items brought in or sold were pretty interesting.

I don't know why but the first thing that came to mind when I saw this sequence was the giggling schoolgirls from Clerks: The Animated Series.

Not a bad episode again last night. The stand up bit was kind of lame but overall a pretty enjoyable episode. The guy that brought in all those number one issues from Marvel's Silver Age was pretty cool. That almost seems like one of those things that was set up though because who really would have all of those in that good of condition? Still liked the episode overall though.

Was wondering if Steve Dave was just nervous or what? His hands were shaking a lot when he was reading his stuff at the mic.

I thought that too. He probably got talked into it for the show but didn't really want to. He didn't seem that comfortable at least at first. The second bit they showed of him he seemed better but still not entirely into it.

He was just playing a character basically

Bryan Johnson @TellEmSteveDave · 15h 15 hours ago
RT @the7thpoint were you actually nervous, dude?

No. I took a lil extra adderall & no heart pressure meds so I appeared really nervous

Thought it was strange considering he's the only genuinely funny one. Also wondered where Ming's wife was...
