Re: Real Time with Bill Maher (2012)
As much as Kennedy already talked too much in the show, I was a little disappointed that they ran out of time just when she claimed she was going to "prove" that atheism is actually a religion. I was a bit interested in hearing what fallacy laden-ed BS argument Kennedy was going to use, and then hear what Maher was going to say to either mock or just shoot down her claim.

Re: Real Time with Bill Maher (2012)
I don't want to ever see Rohrabacher on the show again. I've been a huge fan of Real Time for years and usually rewatch episodes a few times, but I won't watch this one again. Too much of him and Kennedy just blabbering non-stop. I felt bad for Bashir. He couldn't get a word in.
Rohrabacher had the "get off my lawn (you damn immigrants)" vibe going on.

Re: Real Time with Bill Maher (2012)
Rohrbacher perfectly sums up the state of the Republican party right now. Just make shit up about Obama and say it over and over again on conservative media outlets until the minions start repeating it as fact. Rohrbacher just wanted so badly to call Obama anti-defense and paint him as a liberal weenie which just doesn't hold water to any sentient human being.
Rohrbacher pretty much dissed Maher on his own show too with his parting shot about his character. And I guess Kennedy is some sort of libertarian? They are always so confused. ![]() |

Re: Real Time with Bill Maher (2012)
Of course Obama is weak on defense. Not only is he not a Republican, he's a Democrat. He is, by definition, weak on defense. It doesn't matter how many terrorists get killed on his watch, he's always going to be weak and ineffectual.

I watch Overtime most weeks (including this one). They didn't continue the discussion of atheism being a religion.

Re: Real Time with Bill Maher (2012)
Bill Maher did talk about the claim that "atheism is a religion" this week
Scroll down to see clip at bottom of this link I don't know if this was done in direct response to Kennedy's last second BS claim in the previous episode, but good thing he didn't do this segment last week, or Kennedy would've talked over it (or at least tried to).

Next week's show will have Al Sharpton and Reihan Salam. That should be fun to watch.

Re: Real Time with Bill Maher (2012)
Anybody catch Bill Maher's live and NEW (mostly) standup routine on Yahoo live streaming last night?
It was pretty funny. The big surprise was he donated $1 million dollars to a Super PAC for Obama after the show. Good for him. Although this cast of clowns has almost no chance to beat Obama anyway. |

Obama and Bush (along with republican and democrat congresses) have accumulated 10 trillion dollars of debt in the past 10 years, while the previous 42 Presidents acculumated about 5 trillion. Eventually somebody has to pay the bill on all this debt..... Can we throw them all out in Washington, including Obama? |

Re: Real Time with Bill Maher (2012)
It depends on what you mean by "them all" because even if we discarded all of the Executive and Legislative branches, the kingmakers behind them would remain (including the 2 major political parties) and we'd just end up with the same thing soon enough. The reform would come in reforming the system the current politicians are beholden to. Signatures to get on a ballot, then equal access to resources (funding, TV time, etc.) to mount a campaign, then a vote. I will grant that anyone who disagrees with that has a point, and I still won't care. The political process is currently being hijacked by "free speech" money and the costs outweigh the benefits (IMO of course). And yes, that means if *I* want to run a political ad supporting someone, I wouldn't be able to. He'd have to do it himself from the allocated resources he gets for that purpose. All I can contribute is my time. The rest comes out of allocated resources funded by taxes (not even an optional "check here to send $1").
How much to give them? How to tax for it? That's all a question of degree, not kind. |

Neil deGrasse Tyson!
I'll be interested to see what he has to say about Breitbart. |

Re: Real Time with Bill Maher (2012)
I don't believe the show brought up Breitbart at all. I wonder if they just didn't want to or if it's a final "fuck you" to a guy they didn't like?
Great episode this week. Very funny lines including: "So are you the socialist for taking the money or is Obama the socialist for giving it to you?" "George W. Bush, the town drunk of Texas, decided he should try his hand at some Presidentin'!" "It was I.Q. versus Bar-B-Que." And that Bob Lutz guy... ![]() |

Re: Real Time with Bill Maher (2012)
Maher probably never really liked him so why bring him up in his opinion.
He liked and respected Hitchens so that's why he got the nice tribute. |

Re: Real Time with Bill Maher (2012)
Breitbart was on the panel not too long ago (2011, pre-Weiner debacle) and I was perplexed that no one (including Bill) brought up the Shirley Sherrod incident. It was like the elephant in the room that no one was yelling "Elephant!". The guy basically assassinated her character by editing a video causing one to believe that she was a racist when the video in its entirely actually showed the opposite. The guy was a slimebucket and he should have been sued for slander with malicious intent.
From Wikipedia: --------------- On July 19, 2010, Shirley Sherrod was forced to resign from her appointed position as Georgia State Director of Rural Development for the United States Department of Agriculture because of video excerpts from her address to a March 2010 NAACP event and commentary posted by blogger Andrew Breitbart on his website. Based on these video excerpts, the NAACP condemned Sherrod's remarks as racist and U.S. government officials called on the official to resign. But, with review of the complete unedited video in full context, the NAACP, White House officials, and Tom Vilsack, the United States Secretary of Agriculture, apologized for the firing and offered Sherrod a new position. In 2011, Sherrod sued Breitbart for defamation. His attorneys filed for dismissal two months later on First Amendment grounds. In February 2012, Breitbart's motion was denied, leaving Sherrod's suit against him to proceed.

Re: Real Time with Bill Maher (2012)
Maybe Sherrod had him killed? Or someone who he was planning on character-assassinating actually assassinated him instead.

But Breitbart had no character.
