Yeah, good luck getting $90K out of a bunch of old newspapers (IIRC the low end of the appraisal was half that). Even if Dave could find thousands of people to buy the papers, it would take who knows how many years and manhours to sell them - not to mention that they'd have to be individually packaged and shipped.

In tonight's episode Dave found a locker full of musty old books and valued them at $15,000.

Anyway, I found it funny that Brandi would chastise Jarrod for his dumb move when in the episode before she did the same thing.

Oh, and as for those books Dave got, I doubt he'll sell all of them and make that much... I know the totals are for the show but I had to laugh at that.

He can put them on eBay in a Dutch auction for $5 each. Bet they go fast.

He didn't value them per se at $15,000. He said if he sold each book for a dollar he'd make $15,000 because it seems like there may have been that many books inside the locker overall.

And since he UPC scanned some of them and saw they could go for a lot more who knows what the actual prices are. He was giving a decent estimate based on the sheer volume.

Does it seem like Brandi's weight fluctuates each episode? How come Jarrod doesn't make fun of that like he does everything else she does?

Seems to me the producers need to talk to Brandi about her clothing choices.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

The book estimate was moronic and anyone who has dealt in books would know that was crazy talk.

Yeah, if he wanted to open a book store, he might get that much over a period of 35 years but apart from that he will want to move them to recoup the money so the total will be MUCH lower.

As a seller who does these things, more than likely he would want to sell them in bulk lots or all at one time. As he said, it seemed like most were new so a used/new book store would be the most likely buyer. If these were from a book collector who had older books, that might be a bit different but with these he will want to move them.
15K for those is a joke.
If he got 7K that would be a big win. I'm thinking more like 3-5K for them.

Still making great money but not that inflated BS he tried to sell.

Brandi's wardrobe should be approached like aliens in a sci-fi movie ... less is more.

If she's an ex-stripper than she likely WON'T show off the goods for want of putting those days in the past.

BTW, found this nifty story on Barry.

Thanks for the link. Interesting little read. I wish I could be as carefree and cool as he is in the show. Just rolls with the flow.

What make you think he'll want to move them quickly? I thought part of the point the show made was that Dave could handle placing that quantity of books in his store and letting them sell.

Because I know business and books are notoriously slow sellers. It doesn't matter if you can handle the room. The space used to sell them has to make sense. If you have 10 Thousand books in a spot taking up a 25 foot x 25 foot you need that space to be making $xxxx but if they don't sell well you're losing money because you could have something in place that brings in the cash much better.

People in this business know it's usually much better to turn it over and use that money to put into other items.

Brandi did look darn good in the recent "Brandi's First Time" episode.
There's something about that title I like.

I was thinking the same thing.

She seems very nice and genuine on Twitter. I wonder if she's aware most men in America are oggling her like that.

If it's true she was a stripper before this, I don't think she's that naive to think they don't.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

I'm watching an older episode where Barry found an elliptical exercise machine. The whole segment at Venice Beach was just ridiculously silly. Having been there many times there is no way he got that machine up to the weight area without a LOT of help. The whole thing was obvious fiction, but it was still funnier than the usual sitcom skit.

But I've come to the conclusion Darrell needs to go. He brings nothing to the table and comes off as a total prick with no redeeming qualities.

I've never understood what Darrell brought to the show. He's just generic SoCal white trash and doesn't offer anything unique. I don't even know what he does, exactly. Barry is supposed to be "The Collector" but Darrell has talked in past episodes on what he has at his house, which made him seem like he's just in it for collecting purposes. He said he's been going to these auctions for 30 years so I'm confused as to what he does.

I remember reading that his house was robbed because of what he had bragged about having in his house in an episode. So he's not too bright anyway.
