This happened again on another Storage show...maybe the TruTV one? The dumb dumb's thought the same thing.
This is the danger of having a little bit of knowledge. They knew that an NES sold for that much, but they didn't know why it had sold for that much.

Stadium Events was actually the second game released for the Family Fun Fitness mat, both the mat and and another game, Athletic World, had been released earlier in the year.

From what I can tell, the FFF mat was bought be Nintendo and simply rebranded as the Power Pad, so the Stadium Events game should work with that mat as well. It's valuable because it was completely rebranded (Athletic World kept it's name, but its packaging was updated to indicated Power Pad compatibility, making the earlier boxes for it rare and collectable), and it was recalled shortly after release:

Here's the link:

What's interesting is that the item has been graded by the VGA, the Video Game Authority. They state that "an item which receives the grade of 75 will most often have significant wear, a fairly significant tear in the shrink-wrap, or other moderate to significant wear, but should be free of major flaws which would immediately draw the eye to them at first glance."
http://www.vggrader.com/grading_scales.aspx

I first thought the case it was in meant that it had been stolen from a store, but they never figured out how to open the theft-proof case, leaving the game mint inside.

For people who like this show, and some of the other semi-reality shows like Pawn Stars, I'd like to introduce this site:

http://realityfreaks.tv/

I am in no way affiliated. Just hoping to drive some traffic of people with similar interest. It's a nice board but dead.

Watching Storage Hunters and they just opened a locker that had a naked guy in some kind of cage. This is ridiculous.

This post is way more entertaining than that show probably was.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

I wish they would have follow up episodes for these storage shows where they would disclose what they really got for their items that they thought were so valuable. It is easy to say that it worth a hundred and this is worth two but did you really get that?

I know it's not feasible to follow every item they buy, but I'd like to see some follow up, especially on the more valuable items.

After a season wraps and some of the "higher" priced items have sold they can have a recap episode or two showing when the items were bought at auction and what they eventually were sold for.

Ugh.

Now "Miss Lisa" assumes price tag = exactly what you can sell them for.

Well then, come check out my DVD Collection!!!

Yeah, I'm no fan of hers. And she thinks where she is in Texas there are people who are willing to pay those kind of prices? I don't think so.

As for what Moe did, well he turned the items into one of a kind pieces of art. So yeah, he can make more money out of that by selling it from the gallery he owns. I get exactly what he did.

lol! This is exactly how I feel. I learned the hard way after starting to buy dvds that what you think they are worth is not necessarily even close to what you could actually sell them for.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

I'm watching the last few episodes of Storage Wars Texas and wow, that Moe. The last scene of the episode three episodes ago was just him going on and on with "unintentional" gay puns, then this second to last episode has people just continuing the gay puns. I mean, just on and on and on. How weird. Is that just going to be his thing over and over and over again now?

I like Moe. An obviously much smarter at this game Barry, but with all of the same quirks.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

I was going to comment on the Miss Lisa thing. Yeah a $5K leather jacket is really going to fetch that. Id guess she gets about $500-700 for that jacket. But of course she made off with a $6K profit of so, according to them.

I wish Barry was my Uncle. Would be fun to go to his house, look at his cool stuff, listen to his bad puns, and take a ride in his crazy cars. He's my favorite character, even if he is often awful at this storage war game.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

Holy crap, just saw an episode where Dave bought a locker with thousands of Memphis newspapers printed when Elvis died. They valued it at $90k. Even if they overvalued it, that whole story is incredible. A locker full of newspapers on Elvis's death? Damn.

yeah, that was a crazy one, especially since they were all double folded, so basically it was double what they thought.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

Apparently Brandi was a stripper in her former life and Jarrod worked at the club she got down and dirty in. Then he turned into Captain Save A Ho and now they raid storage lockers together.

She's said on a few occasions he thinks he's a gangster. He just looks like SoCal white trash to me.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

Schulz is not exactly a Hispanic name.

If Brandi was a stripper, she must have done well with that rack. But she is surprisingly prudish.

BTW today's episodes all look new.

Re: Official Storage Wars Discussion

Two new episodes tonight, and neither are the horrible Texas version. That's more like it.

I see that Barry's new Bid Smart philosophy did not last long. "Burned by the beaver again."

Jarrod & Brandi are making some dumb movies while trying to stock their new store.

It was fun to see Dave get burned in the first episode. It doesn't happen nearly often enough.
