Guy Fieri allegations of Racism and Homophobia
City Pages Article
No big surprises here, and this article is pretty badly written. Here are a couple of the pertinent excerpts:
Fieri also needed protection from homosexuals, or at least advance warning. Early in the show's run, Page got a phone call from Fieri, who'd just walked out of a restaurant in a huff.
"Guy had decided that the two men running the restaurant were life partners," Page remembers. "He said, 'You can't send me to talk to gay people without warning! Those people weird me out!'"
From then on, show researchers were required to note any indications of homosexuality detected during pre-interviews. (Fieri declined to comment for this story through his spokespeople.)
and
The final straw was a dispute over how to divide revenue from the bestselling Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives books. Fieri had promised to "split" the proceeds. Instead, Fieri gave Page Productions nothing.
When the second book was commissioned, Fieri approached Page to ask for access to some of the show's research material. That led to an "uncomfortable discussion" over compensation, Page claims.
"They were demanding tremendous research from my people, and pictures, but they didn't want to pay for them," Page says. "Guy said to me: 'You know, it's true: Jews are cheap.'"

There was definitely something going on with the show/him when there was that report out earlier this year about issues with his production company and Food Network.

Yeah, no shock. The guy looks like and comes across as an überchoad.

Seems about right. I fully expect to hear something similar about Bobby Flay at some point in the future.

"You have to protect Guy from all of his poop jokes," Page says. "Anytime any woman mentioned 'cream,' Guy went into a sexual riff. When cutting the show, you had to tell the editors to watch Guy's eye line, because it's always on breasts."
Heh...I like Guy more already.

Odd, considering he had a lesbian sister that he was very close to until she passed earlier this year. Also, the fact that Page is in a lawsuit involving Fieri and FN makes me take his accusations with a huge grain of salt.

Yeah, I didn't read the article, but the part quoted here doesn't make much sense. Makes it sound like they had a verbal agreement to split the revenues...uh, contract, anyone?

Well, I think that part had to do with Guy wanting to use all of the production company's research to use in the book. Guy doesn't find any of the restaurants. Researchers hired by the production company do. So when Guy wanted to use the resources, the producer asked about compensation.

I cousin's ex-wife went to culinary school with him, never heard her say one nice word about him.

He was here in town and did his thing at one of our local restaurants. One of my friends is a bartender at that restaurant and said Guy was a total prick the entire time he was there. I never really liked him before that, but I won't watch anything with him in it now.
My friend also said that Adam Richman (Man vs Food) was a super nice guy.
