After last season, I'm pretty much glad that this is only 8 episodes and ending soon. 8 eps is pretty short though. Does this mean Boardwalk Empire is up next in the rotation -- October start? I hope that's the case.

+1. That guy fucking sucks.
I hope this season isn't 5 episodes of Vince on a bender being an asshole and 1 having him being redeemed. Please, please eliminate Sasha Grey from this season asap and just have the guys enjoying themselves and getting laid randomly --- like old times.

I bet a lot of people disliked this episode but I thought to was a good set up and tied up the end of last season well.
I'm sure this season will have plenty of movie hunting as it always does but all I'm hoping for is that it goes back to being about the friendships over the business. It looks like they laid the foundation for that already.
I actually like Scott Caan and don't mind him on the show but he needs to take a back seat. He's not part of the four. He can be there from time to time like Ari but the story should revolve around the main guys.
Caan did have the best line of the episode though: "did you girls come together? Want to?"

I like Cann, and welcome him being in every episode. Sure it's about the "main four" but new friends come into the fold over the years, and he is a part of Vince's life now, as well as being partners with E. Similar situation with Walsh being a close friend.
This was a great intro, really some shockers, such as E's engagement being broken off, Mrs. Ari seeing someone else. That whole party was awesome as well....I'm going to see this one again now.

I wish they had gone a little more into how E and Scott ousted George Segal so quickly. I thought Scott was pretty funny tonight though.
Drama AND Dice on the same cartoon? The two main characters are both belligerent lunkheads? Would be more believable with a real star and not a comedian who was washed up 20 years ago.
I liked how Vince was so hot for his mine project, but then was just as enthusiastic when it was suggested for Drama and an MOW.
Mrs. Ari already seeing someone? WHORE.

Boardwalk Empire starts in September. I would guess either when True Blood ends, or with a one-week overlap. HBO doesn't make it easy to figure out their upcoming schedule, but it looks like Hung, How to Make it in America, and Bored to Death are all due back in September/October. I would assume there will be a fourth half-hour show, but I can't figure out what it will be (Eastbound and Down? Life and Times of Tim?). However, usually HBO only airs one drama and two comedies at any given time, so it could be that we'll only get two out of Hung, How to Make it in America, and Bored to Death, and the third will premiere later in the fall/winter.

I still don't understand why they took this show from a light-hearted comedy to a serious drama last season, and now seems this season will be the same. What a boring 1/2 half hour where I didn't laugh once during the show. I still say they should have ended after season 6, the last episode of that season gave closure to every characters and would have been a great series finale.
And Mrs. Ari dating someone else after 2 months apart after 10+ years of marriage??? That's fucking lame.

Meh episode but while I can't stand Dice and his shtick, seeing him and Drama work together could be funny.

Nope. I enjoyed it and seemed like it was off to a good start, plus only 10 seconds of tequila pimping.

I was happy to see E's assistant back this year. I'm also curious to see how they kicked out Segal.
I didn't mind Scott. I actually think he mixes things up in a funny way. He's "come together" line made me laugh. Something I think we'll need in this season, as it looks to be another serious season.
How much weight did Turtle lose? Jeez, he looks scary skinny.

And while I love looking at Sloane I'm hoping they don't dwell too much on it with an 8 episode season. I think we can all fill in the blanks with what happened... he got pissed about the pre-nup and things just exploded from there. I'm sure they'll talk about it more but I just hope it's not a big part of the season.

I enjoyed last nights episode a lot more than any part of the second half of season 7. It was almost cathartic to watch that house burn down - signifiying a new chapter in the guy's lives. And while I don't mind the introduction of Caan and Walsh (not to mention Ari essentially moving in w/ the guys) I hope they don't stray too far from the original 4, we've only got 7 more episodes to go...

Someone on twitter told me that we might find out what Mrs Ari's real name is sometime this season, any truth to that.

Yeah he should be posting in the 10:00 pm thread, not the 10:30 one.

What's hilarious is that there is now actual talk of a movie about the coal miners in Chile (i know, i know this one was about romanians) just funny timing.

Turtle lost some weight last season, but he's definitely lost a lot more weight in the off-season.
It's funny how they keep brining in short people on this show. Johnny Galecki, Scott Cann and Eric all together... all 5' 5". If Turtle were there, he'd be the fourth.
I hate how everyone are just yes-men to Vince. Not just about his crappy movie idea, but just to everything in general in the run of this series. His best friends tip-toe around him all because he's their meal ticket.
I'm pretty sure we'll find out that Mrs. Ari isn't actually dating anyone. She's probably just testing Ari's reaction or trying to make him fight for her. Some nonsense like that. But yeah, if she's actually dating someone already... then she's a WHORE... especially considering Ari's around amazing T&A all day, every day and has probably been offered hot sex hundereds of times - but he's never once cheated on his wife in 10 years. That's saying a lot in Hollywood. So Mrs. Ari dating someone after only 10 weeks of a trial seperation really makes her look bad.
